Paus! That's great! i want to run out and start that one. Trouble is, I've actually used up all my cut squares from swaps and have to cut some! This looks really fun to sew. Love the multicolor binding. TFS!

Really cute - I like the binding as well....it's not LOTS of different fabrics but still a variety.

I've got several 1/4 yard pieces of coordinated fabric and I was thinking I could easily cut the blocks out of those. It would make the blocks an odd size but hey, it 's my quilt, right? Grab a bunch of my strings scraps, sew them like for a 1600 quilt, throw in a couple of scrap squares and it'll be done.

Moving this one up on my 'wanna do' list.

So true Nancy...this year my stash needs to be used, so I'll have an excuse to buy more in 2014 Wink when I return home! LOL

Paus, I love this,I may end up doing something simple like this for a charity quilt I volunteered for, depends on my scraps,I want the fabrics to be manly or at least neutral.

Nora be carefull what you wish for. You can go overboard and your stash could bury you one day. Sometimes mine is overwhelming, especially my scraps. I have 12 of those three drawer plastic storage bins on wheels from walmart and they are all stuffed full. I have no more room under my long arm machine table for them so from now on all my scraps have to be thrown out or start using up what I have.

I am going to try to tame some of the scraps this year.

Part of my plans for today include checking out a few quilt stores in the area. I can always store it in the oven until next thanksgiving when I have to cook more turkey and dressing!!!!!

NancyC: The blocks are 8 1/2", cut; the stripe section together is 4 1/2". You can vary the size of the stripes as long as they total 4 1/2" when sewn together.

As in alllll things quilty, you can change anything you want.

Nora, never say you don't have something on this board. There are some very generous people on here and you never know what might show up in your mail. lollll Beware of anyone asking for your mailing address. lolllll

Warmbuns: I had to laugh at your stove comment. It was a while back but I do remember reading someone had actually stored fabric in the oven so her hubby wouldn't find it.

KS: It took me a bit to get to like this, yeppers, but it turns out I think it would be a great give-away quilt. Charities being the top of the list. She designed this as a baby quilt; think of the possibilities for hospitals, women's groups, etc.

A simple and quick gift for any occasion, really. She did this kind of scrappy but it could be color or theme coordinated easily.

I am building stuff up VERY little by little. I have some small scrap left over from the stuff I posted in my "Hello" thread, and I bought some fun holiday stuff just for the heck of it because it was 30% off.

It is sure fun to shop for fabrics! I was telling mandylifeboats the other day -- When I go shop, I turn it into a "everyone who happened to be in the store at the same time as me and I picked these fabric choices together" event. They may think I'm nuts by the time I leave them all alone and let them do their own shopping, but its fun! LOL

that is pretty and should sew up fairly quickly. I have several 2 1/2" strips. One time I was told before cutting your quilt, to cut one 2 1/2" strip and set aside. I made one of the strip quilts, well the top is done.
I sew all my binding leftover strips together on the diagonal. Roll them and keep in a small container. I use these on scrap quilts, like the scrap-2-treasure challenge. At one point I had 4 or 5 rolls. Now I have 3, but I have added and used so the quantity doesn't indicate what has been used.
Welcome Nora and YES, I was going to offer to mail you scraps!

Not the million dollars, huh?

(of COURSE I was just kidding! Unless you really do have a spare million dollars laying around. :: looks around :: )

I'll get there eventually, with the stash. :-) Little by little.. soon y'all will hear me complain about having nowhere to keep it, right?

That's one of the reasons I was bummed when I first joined the board. I missed the deadline for the 2013 Birthday FQ by like a week. That would have been fun! Am looking forward to it next year.

Nra, you never know what is buried under my fabric. In fact son and I were cutting for a fleece tied and something fell. I don't even know what fell or from whence it hit the gound. That's how bad my room is.
Serious, I could send some fab scraps.

Nora, be careful with sales and be wary of the enablers who post fabric sale information! I washed 54 1/2 yards of new batiks over the weekend, then had to go buy a new bin for it. I'm addicted and can't pass up a sale!
