Credit: Marcia Hohn has graciously said we can use blocks from The Quilter's Cache again this year. Please read her Terms and Conditions at: http://www.quilterscache.com/. And follow the below guideline. "Should photographs of items made from Original designs be posted on your group website, they should also be clearly marked with the name of the pattern As I have it named, and that it is from The Quilter's Cache/Marcia Hohn." (Since you'll post your pictures in this thread, you will be covered by that statement.)

This year we will again challenge you to stretch your skills, ideas and creativity, while sewing and even trying new block patterns as well as methods. We are here to help! Use this thread to post your questions, problems anything related to the BOM~ and we will try to answer them for you. Smile

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Step One~

Now ... without further clucking ... HERE'S the January BLOCK ~~

Noon and Light

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Step 2~ don't forget to make your chain block! Wink
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Star Additional Notes~ Star
I did not press my seams as suggested in the pattern. Red Face I wanted them to lock together, so I pressed 2 of the center HST's to the light. And also half of the three triangle units to the two triangles. Just choose one group and press that one to the 2 triangles. I will show my backside below. Eek

Also~ be sure you square up all your units to 3.5 inches before you sew the block together. It goes so much smoother. Wink

COME ALONG AND HAVE SOME FUN!!!
AND DON'T FORGET TO POST THOSE PICS Cool WE LOVE PICS! Cool

If you have trouble posting pictures, or have a challenge with resizing them to post, you can SEND THEM TO ONE OF US VIA EMAIL, and we will BE HAPPY Big Grin to resize them and post for you !!!

This block is so pretty. Now you have me thinking "do I go scrapy or should I stick to a more traditional color scheme?"

Thanks for posting! Cool block. I am redrafting them to 9" finished (including the chain blocks) because 1) I hand quilt and 2) I still live at home and we live in a small house with 4 adults.

I am heading to the printer to retrieve the printed instructions. CQB and Save Sinnr, your blocks are both different in color and give us a variation of how to do our blocks. Great job. Thanks for posting. Hey, WQFC, where are you?? Did you fall asleep waiting for the post??LOL Sue

Making breakfast for the family, but I will most likely be sewing later!Smile

Happy New Year! Thank you for posting so soon! Your two blocks are both beautiful in their own ways...makes it good to see the variety of look with different colors and values and ALSO makes it hard! Now what to do??!! I think I will be doing a little stash shopping today to see if my original plan for the chain blocks will work with the BOMS. I had three different plans for fabbies and colors in the chain blocks but it is definately time now to focus it down to the actual plan.

Thanks ladies, for all you do for us to play together!

My sewing room doubles as a guest room. My parents are here with us right now. Went in there to start looking at my fabrics and I don't think I'll be sewing AT ALL for a few days! There is no space at the inn! LOL!

Can't wait to get to this...will have to wait until I get my sewing room back. It didn't stop me from playing around with it in EQ6! Smile

If I still make the same block, do I only have to use 3 colors? I am using up my ziploc scraps and so for example all of the "tiny yellow triangles" in the sample would not be all the same color. Is that allowed?

Is it ok to to make 16" blocks? Maybe add a border around it? I can't find a chain block that I'm motivated to make except the 16" one I saw.

Oh my goodness, I haven't picked out a color theme, but I am pretty sure what my chain block will be. So maybe I'm going to step out of my comfort zone and make mine scrappy. That is ver scarey to me. I like how other scrappy quilts look, but when I put mine together it looks pitiful. But isn't this BOM a challenge to stretch your comfort zone a bit??? I'll see what happens. Pat
Congrats on the finished blocks. They are looking good. Pat

Hello my stitch friends! Okay, so I know I said I wouldn't begin 2013 until I finished November and December 2012 but to tell you the truth, I have a new plan...imagine that!

I am not just real happy with my remaining florals for November and December and I refuse to buy more right now. I have also decided that one of my 2012 blocks (don't remember which month it was) just simply does not go with the rest of my blocks so I am allowing myself to NOT make November and December and to pull the block that doesn't play well with the rest and to have a 9 block floral quilt! I am so excited and happy to have given myself permission! I won't be able to show you my quilt top until March as I am going to a small quilt retreat the end of Feb and that is the main project I will be working on...piecing and quilting my floral 2012 BOM.

In the meantime, the block I have pulled from the group is R-W-B and I have decided to use it as the center medallion of my Quilt of Valor. I couldn't be happier with it! Once my QOV is finished I will join you all in the 2013 BOM! I can hardly wait and have pulled fabbies already. I am going to go scrappy Christm@s this year~like I said before I really loved those that were done last year.

Love you all, love the inspiration, and love the beautiful blocks and quilts you produce!

Here is the beginning of my QOV using the 2012 BOM as a medallion.
