Oh Memequilts...I LOVE your block and fabric choices!! So sweet!

I have to say, I tried, I really tried to do everything right on my block and my first chain block this year but still have managed to come up with a different block than the pattern and everyone else! My block doesn't seem to have the pieced "square" shape! Oh well, I like it anyway and will keep it.

Regarding my chain block, was so, so happy to find a pattern I liked and thought I could do, got all of my fabbies cut out (for all of the chain blocks) only to realize I mixed up the colors of the small blocks and large blocks. Put it together anyway to see what I thought and I just think it isn't going to work. Will have to go shopping in my stash again...see what else will work.

I keep on learnin...through mistakes! Happy to play with you all though and am enjoying making these BOMs.

Yes, we all learn from our mistakes, don't we? I suggest that when you start a quilt, cut fabric for just ONE block to see how the fabrics work together. Then if you like it, cut the rest.

Hopefully, you will find the perfect use for the pieces you cut but aren't going to use for this quilt.

I finished my block. I decided to go scrappy this time; not sure I like the color choices. The little green print in the cream fabric makes the green diamond look wonky and it really is not! Well, it may be a tad off! LOL! but not like the photo shows.

Got mine done!! But the picture doesn't do it justice! This quilt is going to be for my Granddaughter for next Christmas and she loves purple and pink! So this is done in a very rich batik purple, fuchsia and a light pink. I have no idea what these colors are that the camera took! Frown

My quilting friends, last night the twins my DS and DDIL were expecting were born. My DDIL was 26 weeks pregnant. The little boy, Bram, is 1.1 lbs, the little girl, Isa, is 1.6 lbs. They're stable but in critical condition. Their deceased little brother, Julian, was born first. He's a real baby but oh so tiny. We all said our goodbye's to Julian. He's still with my DS and DDIL in a little blue box with a butterfly on the lid.
Today is my DS's 27th birthday, let's hope he can share his birthday with his twins for many years.

Anael, ending prayers. Keep the faith! My grandson was born at 26 weeks and he weighed 1 lb 6 ounces. He spent three months in the hospital. We had our ups and downs during the hospital stay but today he is a very healthy three year old.

I've been there today and saw Bram and Isa. They're beautiful but so tiny, you can't imagine. Bram is struggling very hard to stay alive, Isa is doing a little bit better. Doctors told my DS and DDIL if they make it past the first two weeks the 2 months after that still will be critical. My DDIL tries to stay positive, my DS is very realistic and is preparing himself for bringing home only his daughter or even none in worst case scenario.

Anael, T&P for your tiny new ones. It is so difficult to lose a precious baby. My friend and wife had twins last May, they were also around a pound when born, and struggled for a couple weeks. While the are still having some issues, looking at them you would never believe they were the same very tiny babies!! Prayers that your story will be similarly successful.

Patty - I can just see you and Sue trying to sneak peaks at your chain blocks all year long! How funny! Maybe we all need to start a thread and take bets on how long it will take for you too to cave in and share those blocks with each other! LOL!

Speaking of sneak peaks...how about February a little early?!! It is a shorter month...no cracks about anybody's height in there either! Big Grin

Thank you all so very much for your T&P's.
My DS and DDIL had a meeting with the neonatologist yesterday. She told them the twins are doing ok considering but we all have to be prepared for bad news on both of them. They struggle to stay with us. If they're stable this morning my DDIL is coming home today.

After seeing so many inspirational pictures of January's block, I need to get started on my own. I've had a rough start to this year due to serious family issues; thankfully that family member is now on the slow road to recovery.

Anael- sending T & P for your family as well as for those who are taking care of those two little angels!

Happy Stitching All!

WAHOO!!! YIPEE!!! HORRAY!!!
Yes, I'm yelling!! I completed the 2012 BOM today. I love this quilt! It is so big I had some friends stand on chairs and hold it sideways to get the whole thing in the picture. Thanks again ladies for doing this I really did enjoy it but I'm so glad it is finally finished. Now someday (hopefully soon) I'll get to the quilting.

Keep calm and carry on

Patty your quilt is AWESOME!! I really am loving all of the 2012's that have been shown. I'm giving serious consideration to doing the 2012 BOM this year Big Grin

I've decided against doing this years BOM...not sure why, just not feeling it I guess. Anyway...if anyone is feeling an absolutely overwhelming urge to share your chain/connecting blocks with someone you can PM me a picture & I will ooh & ahh over it for you. And no one will EVER know if you do...cross my heart & hope to die. Wink Big Grin
