Very nice blocks ladies. There sure is going to be a variety of colors this year. Carolyn http://bransoncofretreat.shutterfly.com/ Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love.
I'm really having a hard time deciding on a color. At first I was thinking blues and yellows, now I'm thinking about 30's. I'm just not sure how 30's would look in this pattern. Also I don't have a background that I want to use, so I may have to go shopping tomorrow to see what I find. All the blocks so far are really stunning!! In order to see the rainbow, first you must endure the rain.
Fabric shopping is always a good thing
Everyone's blocks are just fabulous!! Meme~ I think 30's would work great! Think of Eleanor Burns Egg Money quilts~ scrappy 30's and they are all wonderful! I have next month's block finished. I hope y'all still like me.
Tell us Crazy, what did you do? Y seams? Lots of tiny pieces? HST, small ones? Maybe I will figure out a quilt design with 11 blocks
LOL Anael! I'm not that bad!!
I have decided on the Stonehenge Fabric line to use for all my blocks , plus my chain blocks. Now that I have my sewing room clean and can find my cutting table, I am ready to start on my block. Hopefully I should get it done by the weekend, because on Monday I will have Jury Duty for a full week. UGH!!! SueThis message has been edited. Last edited by: sister sue,

Really nice blocks ladies. Like them all. I am not doing the BOM for this year. Want to finish up my many blocks I have before I do anymore. Hope I can stick to this. Mary
Anael, love your colors! Then again purples are my favorite colors.
So many pretty blocks! I really like Anael's. PatriciaAnne - I can't wait to see the next birthsone! Angela - where's yours?!! Nothing like a little pressure! LOL! SisterSue - you can't go wrong with Stonehenge! That will be fabulous! Has PattyJ figured hers out yet? When will it be February? Or, now that I've read CBQ's post, she would all be afraid?!!
WCFC, I have finished my block. Patty J is on to plan B. I am not sure which fabric she will use. My block does look better in person. Colors are purple and creams. Sue ![]()
All the blocks are looking great. Looks like we might see several RWB quilts. I have not done one yet, but Patty J and I are working on QWL. That one will be very Patriotic and we will proud to send it out. Looks like we have great interest inBOM for 2013. Yea!!! Sue

I haven't checked this thread for a few days and what wonderful additions have been added with the blocks! I do love seeing all the different color combinations and choices. KBlue, love your blues! alexemmarose, that poinsettia in the middle is so pretty! And your QOV top is so nice! Elaine, I love blue and gold together.. nice block! Patricia Anne, I like your first birthstone block and can't wait to see the next ones! Anael, gorgeous fabrics! So rich looking with the flecks of gold in there. sister sue, I like your choice of Stonehenge fabrics and colors! Could never pick a favorite! Wouldn't it be a nice scrappy colorful quilt to put all these in one top! CBQ, be kind with our next block! We've got the rest of the month to be thinking about it and worrying!!
Have to stop by and tell all I love seeing what everyone is doing. Love seeing the colors being used. Also a thank you to CBQ for the fat quarter and the pin cushion. Thank you, thank you. A reward for just having fun and doing something I enjoy.

Wow SS, now I'm scared Thanks to all for the compliments on my block. I intend to use the same fabrics for all blocks.
While cleaning my sewing room, I found the perfect fabric for the backing of my 2012 BOM quilt. So, I used the fabric for the backing, pinned the quilt and used decorative stitchs and now have a completed quilt. I decided to post it here. I also completed my first chain block and have material cut for the rest of the chain block. Sure looks like it should be a pretty quilt. Sue ![]()

I knew we were going to be in for some exciting times when Chicky showed up to help host. We should be afraid, very afraid, But I know that whatever they throw at us we'll be able to do 'cause they're going to help. Right????? Here is my Jan. Block. I'm going to do blues and whites/creams. Haven't started my chain block, but at least I've decided what I'm going to do. Pat forgot picture ![]()
Gee, maybe I need a nap. I also forgot to mention how beautiful everyone's blocks are. There sure are going to be some beautiful quilts again. Pat
Will this be conducive to the QAYG method? Because that may be the only way I end up with a completed quilt.
Hope our leaders answer PatriciaAnne, I might try that method too. Pat
You could do a QAYG with your blocks. Handie Ann
Patricia Anne~ yes, any quilt can be done as a QAYG.
Pat-I love the blue and white. You knew I would love it, because Blue is my favorite color. LOL Sue
WOW Ladies! awesome blocks! I think i may jump in on this one. What is, or does the "chain" block look like?
Kim, that is the big surprise at the end of the year. Your chain block is your choice. Anything that you want to make. I'm doing something that I haven't done before and I'm going to keep it a secret even from Sister Sue.!!! That is going to be hard. I think the first few posts from our leaders on this thread will explain. I hope you are going to join us, you won't be sorry. The chain block is supposed to be secret and at the end of the year is going to be the big reveal. Come and join us. Pat PS Kim, If you check out the first posting then click on the intro in light blue it will give you examples. Have some fun and join us. PatThis message has been edited. I don't know Patty. I think our fearless leaders turned into leaders to be feared
Beee-u-ti-ful block Patty! Did i read that right? You are keeping your chain a secret from Sue? Anael!!
Tsk tsk tsk | ||||
Thats OK with me, because she does not know my chain block. We will just have to do our chain blocks at our own home and no sharing. LOL Sue
Now you all know this is going to be sewwww hard for me keeping this secret for 12 Long months, we'll have to see if I can do it, I really want to.
I did find some background fabric on Saturday. Maybe tonight I can get the first block cut out. I'm still now quite sure on my chain block. I have 2 different ones in mind and I think I'll try making one of each and then decide which one I like better. In order to see the rainbow, first you must endure the rain.
I got the 2012 BOM top done. I like it a lot better now. Handie Ann
I have also got my January block done. I still do not have my chain block, but I have 12 months to get them. Handie Ann
Here's my January block ![]()

Handie Ann- your 2012 quilt looks beautiful, I love all the fall colors. The Jan. blocks looks great.Jen, I love bright colors and your block shows it . Thanks for sharing. Sue
Quilter Jen, I love your block. My favorite colors!!! I have my block cut out and mostly sewn together. I'm not sure I'm going to like the finished look when I get it sewn together. I may have to go back and rethink one of the colors. In order to see the rainbow, first you must endure the rain.
I love seeing all these blocks! Handie Ann - I love how you used the same fabric for the points and the inside of that square! I looks really neat! Granny - you quilt turned out gorgeous! Jen - your block is so pretty as well! I didn't chose it, but those of you who've chosen a black background are going to have such pretty quilts. I can't wait to see more of these blocks. I know Lindsay keeps trying to scare us, but I really can't wait for the next one!

Jane - I liked it right away. Since we are doing chain blocks too, I thought it would be perfect right away. I didn't even notice that it wasn't exactly like the example!

Wow! Blocks and quilt tops are looking just GORGEOUS! I have been a little MIA...very busy with daughter and granddaughters visiting. Daughter and one granddaughter went home and left 3 year old granddaughter here for a few days. She ended up sick...both ends...so haven't been around to see the pretties! Anael, love your purples! SisterSue, Stonehenge batiks are gorgeous and will make a gorgeous quilt. Patty J, your blues will be fresh and pretty. HandiAnne, very pretty Christm@s colors! Will love watching this since I am making one, too. QuilterJen, your purples look like a stained glass~very pretty. Jane Kiwi, I will watch in interest as you make your blocks. Interesting colors together. Thanks for the lovely eye candy...always inspirational.
I am also redrafting all the blocks to finish at 9", because I hand quilt and live in a small house (really a room in my parents' house)... I have had the stained glass like fabric for YEARS and decided I should finally use it!
