Love the blocks ladies! And Alex, I like how you think!!!! That QOV will be wonderful.
I don't know if I'm going to play along right now. It shouldn't take that much energy to make one block a month, but with a new grand baby coming in March and the COF row robin commitment, the first few months could get crazy. Oh bother, this post just sounds like excuses. I'm going to go check the stash.....
I'm liking every block shown! It's nice to see the different color combinations used. I have my fabric pulled but haven't started yet. Congratulations to the winners of the 2012 BOM! Good going!
Last year I stayed away from these threads so I wouldn't get sucked into starting one of these. Now, look. I'm getting sucked in for this year. I may have to think about this a little longer.

Ok, we'll see about this. I have printed out the instructions for the first block. I also printed out a couple of maybes for the chain blocks. No guarantees, but maybe I'll try to do this. I keep thinking surely I can do one chain block and one other block each month.

Here is my January block. The light color is a pretty light brown. It shows up really light in this pic. This message has been edited. Last edited by: MountainLaurel,
Carolyn, nice block! Like your colors and I'm using some similar and will mix some different in the future blocks... I think! Have to wait until Feb. to see about that!
Thanks WQFC for posting my block for me! I appreciate it! The colors are off a bit... the dark is a navy blue and the blue points are a little brighter blue. I like the block! Struggled a bit but it's done! Bring on February's block!!
Didn't know if I was going to do this or not but I need to make a quilt for next Christmas for my Granddaughter. So I'm going to do this in pinks and purples for her. So I'm now commented. Got the fabric and need to wash it all first. Got a yard and a half of a light, med. and a dark in both purple and pink. If I run out I can pick up more at work. That is nice to say. It pays to work at a fabric store! LOL!! Anyway when I get them washed, dried and ironed I'll make the block and show it. All the blocks look great. I really like this first block. Wonder whats next. Jill have you sent a brib yet? Did it work? I'd like to know before I send mine!

Love all the blocks so far. I finally decided on a color theme for mine. As AngelaC put it, in a controlled scrapy. If it all comes together right I will call the quilt "Birthstones".

Nice colors picked out. Have finally decided to do a r/w/b scrappy as it's around the end of the year that we give to the Vets home.. so this would make sure I have 1 or 2 to give.
WQFC~I see I neglected to comment on your block...it is very pretty! I don't do "blues" often in things so I am particularly interested in seeing how others do.
Hey Headie ~ beautiful points on that block ... I'd love to see the colors in person
oh ALEX ~ such a beautiful block, and will be PERFECT for a QOV quilt! That's a great way to recycle!
STinMT ~ beautiful block... LOVE the center
WillQuilt ~ you over-achiever! Finishing fast and wanting more ... I STILL haven't received any chocolate! I like the dark salted stuff
MtLaurel ~ very pretty block!
YaY Malou ! Glad to see you join in the fun
Hey KBlue ... way to go reaching your goal!
*** NOW ... where's those "sneaky sisters" ... I expected them to be showing off their goodies of completion ... but maybe they are still partying over the Packers win!!! YAY !!!
I think I might have decided on red and white for my fabrics, found a good stash of FQ's in those colors...lol...perhps tomorrow will be my lucky sewing day!

Wow, all beautiful blocks so far! Alex, looks like good decision on how to "fix" 2012's quilt, I love the QOV start! STinMT, I also love the center!, is that a machine embroidery? I've got decision made on color scheme, one block has already been shown in it I have the setting block decided upon and now to work on them, in between other projects!! Now that I have more time on my hands, I want to be more organized to actually accomplish some, I'm shamed to read someone actually finished more than a dozen quilts in 4 months, and I've managed 30 4 patchs for Easy Street, a stocking, my row for the retreat and 20 pillowcases for various donations in that time frame.
Thanks Alexemmarose and Crazy'boutquilts, I do love blue. When I was picking my board name I tried some cute quilting names but everything kept coming back taken, so I tried blue and that was taken. So I put my first initial on it...and it worked. I became forever known as Kblue. I am still envious of the cute quilting/sewing names some of you have. This message has been edited. ...so that means that I have finished my QOV! WooHoo! I am adding a pix here since you all know the story of said QOV. The medallion was the September 2012 block.
Thank you KBlue! My actual BOM is brighter than the pix shows but you get the idea!
I have a question for the BOM Chicks...would it be better to keep the chain block fabbies different than the regular BOM fabbies? I am kind of thinking it would but just wanted your input here...
Elaintoo, love you block! I'm with you, have not yet decided on the chain blocks. I think I know what pattern I will use, but can't decide on the colors. I'm hoping something speaks to me soon

It depends on if you want your regular blocks to pop a bit. My chain is in different colors from my blocks if that makes it easier for you to decide. But I am using scrappy backgrounds throughout the whole thing.
Great blocks so far!! I have not started yet. Cannot decide upon the colors. I am partial to green but really like doing the quilts for QWL or Quilts of Valor in the red, white and blues. Decisions., decisions....
Got my January "birthstone" done this evening. The dark color is much darker, not sure why it doesn't show up that way. The other colors came out about right.

Good Morning Chicky, The Sneaky Sisters haven't even decided what colors we want to use. Sue has the pattern printed, but I don't. We had to finish a few other projects, but I am thinking about this BOM. Sue is coming over today and we are starting our QWL cutting. You can trust us to have the Jan. Block done by the end of the month. I just hate making decisions. LOL and there are heavy decisions on this BOM to make. Like do I show Sue what my chain block is??? I don't keep secrets too well. Pat
