I'm wanting to work on this but am making myself work on a couple of other other things first. Borders are all that's needed on one of them. The other is going to be a long term project but I need to get some of the hand applique done so I can start putting the blocks together.

I'll probably lay mine out soon. I am going to do two quilts with the blocks, I think; one with all the little blocks added and one with just the main block and border. I am doing red, white and blue for the military quilts.

SDGranny...Love your block!

CBQ...first of all...Happy Birthday! Next, thank you for sharing your pix of the six blocks together...GORGEOUS! What a great way to do a quilt...piece the sashing borders as you go and then when all put together it looks fantastic!

I am pretty impressed with everyone's small pieced border blocks...too much for me at this point but maybe in the future??

I am babysitting DGDs for 5 days then have 14 coming for T-day over a six day period (now don't be thinking I have a mansion or something...far from it! A tiny little 2 bedroom bungalo(sp?) but did build an overflow bunk room in the garage which sleeps 4 and my husband and I are staying over night at my Dad's house and let the rest fend for themselves!) Sure hoping to get to my sewing room on Sat. after the holiday and after they all go home! Have my fabbies all picked out and have saved the pattern.

CB - hope your birthday was perfect Smile The 6 blocks together look wonderful!! I think if I'm lucky I will end up with 9 made so my top will be just a tad smaller than the rest Smile That's if I get off the stick and get busy today Smile

Alex - that is quite a houseful - take it easy and enjoy!! It will be just DH and I for Thanksgiving this year. Kind of weird...the downside of small families.

Thank you all Big Grin

Did I tell you I hate those tiny pieces? I thought of doing something else so off I went to EQ, picked a nice block, changed the settings, printed the pattern and off to the machine. When I was halfway done with the block I thought, lets measure it. 1/2" short Frown Frown
I always thought EQ printed the unfinished size and not the finished! So now I need more coffee and am going to play a game.
Tomorrow is another day Big Grin

Now I proudly present you my June block Big Grin Big Grin
The star isn't the right colour but when I found out it was too late! I already cut the fabric. The little blocks which should have been on the right went wrong too. I was watching a movie with my ladycat and suddenly it appeared to me I could do some crazy patches there so I did and this is the result of my hard work :P

I think I chose the wrong fabrics for mine - it's about half done but I don't like it already. I'm guessing my "quilt" is now going to be even smaller Smile We'll see if I finish it - I should - just cause I have so much time invested in it already...we'll see.

Lindaboomer, I chose the wrong fabbies for 2 of the months but I am not in the mood to redo them so will either leave them out or just put them in and try not to worry about it! I do know that when they aren't right to your design sense it is hard to just leave them in the project...I will always think they don't go!

Will see what I decide once they are all finished.

Forgot to say that we survived the 14 house guests...all my kids, grands and their friends and 3 dog guests. DH and I only had 1 bad moment...

Love my kids and all and love the holidays but somehow it all causes stress...and I am glad it is Saturday after!

Hope to get to my BOM block today but my sewing room is a 3-season room and it is only 40 outside today so it is only 40 in the room! It isn't very airtight so I don't heat it except for a small space heater at my feet. Will hope the sun comes out soon to warm it up!

Loving everyone's blocks.

Alex - what on earth do you do when it gets to be real winter? I thought about putting my sewing machine on our 3 season porch but it ended up in the basement because of the "no heat" issue. Sure would like all the light that is out there though. No matter how many lights I turn on downstairs, it is still no where near the perfection of natural light. Which reminds me....what do you do after dark? You must have some fantastic lighting in there. We only have an old-fashioned porch light for nighttime. (It was a screened in porch when we bought the house - we swapped out the screens for some insert walls with windows - get a lot more use out of it now.

Sweet Lindaboomer, you are right that the light out in my sewing room is GREAT...used to be a screened in porch also and swapped out large windows for all of the screens. DH and I insulated the ceiling and put a new roof on it and insulated under the floor...room was built on a deck and is open under the flooring and the wind doth blow through! Anyhoo, also insulated all of the walls. Now the only issue is the windows really need better storm windows...DH made framed plexi-glass inserts years ago that do help.

I have a ceiling fan with lights in it and I have added a strip of spot lights on the ceiling also. I also do have focus lighting for my jewelry making and sewing in the form of one of those work lamps that hook onto the edge of the table that are moveable with a hinged elbow kind of deal at the center of the structure (not describing it very well but it is moveable and I bring the light part right close to my work). We have such a tiny house that there is no where to have my stuff inside. Our basement is a yucky old cellar...I store most of my fabric down there in large plastic bins (54 of them!) and in the colder months I bring my machine and current project into the dining room table. We don't often have overnight company in the winter so I can leave it out all winter! DH is very good about it.

I would LOVE to have a wonderful new workspace but no space or money to do it!

My dad built a studio on our property for he and I to use many years ago but it was really just a 2 stall garage and didn't stay clean, was heated with a wood stove (which was cozy but took all day to heat up in the winter) and I had to walk through nasty weather to get to it. We have converted it to DH's workshop/gun reloading shop. He has his space and I have mine attached to the house. Both of us are happier!

Anyway, sorry for the dissertation but I always find it interesting to hear where others create.

Have a great day everyone!

I'd have to kick DH off the dining room table to sew on it Smile He got there first. Our house is 17 years old so the basement isn't as bad as some. Half is finished nicely - the other half (mine) paneled, dropped ceiling and indoor/outdoor carpeting. My father did put in electric heat in there since we covered up the one and only ceiling register. Guess the builder never considered I'd want something more (5 years before we bought the house Smile I'm itching to rip out all of that and have one of the basement refinishers come in and make it "nice" **$ stands in the way Smile

Anyway - I worked for a long time on this block this afternoon....mostly ripping and redoing only to still not have it be right. I'm not finishing since I now hate it Smile Maybe in calmer times I'll try it again. It doesn't seem to be such a difficult block but it was more than my poor brain could deal with this month!! I sure do love what all of you have done.

I'm guessing when I try again it will go together nice and smoothly and behave!! Isn't that always the way it goes?

I've been watching Sister Sue learn all kinds of new things this year and believe me it has been fun. One of the big things that she has learned is "Label Label Label. " You can never have too many labels for these blocks.
I have my pieces all cut and ready to sew, part of the sewing is done, but had to cook supper last night and didn't get a chance to finish, but will try again today. Only 2 days to finish this block, hope I make it. Pat

DJ and Sue~ great blocks! I love the blues you are using DJ, and Sue your Asian prints are gorgeous! Smile

I have my top all together and I gotta say~ I love it!! Wink Here is the plan I have come up with for the rest of the year~
we will post the December block on the first like always. Then around the 10th of the month I will show you the blocks all together and give you the rest of the layout etc. Then I will make a post for showing finished tops after Chr1stmas. Sound like a plan? I know many of you won't get to finish your tops until after the first of the year, and that's ok~ we will keep the thread bumped up for you. Smile

Now for next year's BOM~ yes! I am already working on it! I need to stay one step ahead of y'all! LOL I am going to make an intro post sometime in December, but haven't quite figured out when yet. I think you will like the new idea. Smile One thing~ no mini blocks. Wink LOL

Have a great day! Wave

My November block isn't even at the cutting stage yet. I have too many things with deadlines. But many of the deadlines are withing the next three weeks so hopefully I'll be able to finish both Nov and Dec blocks by the end of the year. I'll probably not have time to put them all together until January but I KNOW it's going to be a great looking quilt. Our leaders have done a wonderful job of planning this BOM! Thank you!
