I am excited for you because you are excited for you!
I know someone who was so ready to retire...next thing I knew she was working again. Her husband had retired earlier due to his health, but when he was up and mobile...he was running for other people, especially the older widowed ladies. When she retired, everyone expected her to come with him. She said that she had more free time to herself when she was working. LOL So we went back to work! So funny...
Awesome! I have been retired for about 7 years now. The only thing i missed were the people i worked with, mostly men. (steelworker) Sometimes i am so busy, i wonder how i ever managed to work. other times i am just relishing my time on the deck, in the garden, just enjoying my day. Thankful,so thankful for everything.
You will so enjoy retirement. I'm having a blast. It is fun to just sign up for a class without worrying if I'll be able to make all the classes. (sewing classes of course.LOL)
I will echo "the best job you ever had" It is amazing how "things" will fill your time, and yes you will wonder how you ever had time to go to work. Around age 55 I announced I was retiring....DH sez what are you gonna retire on? I said "The same thing I lived on forever" But I have managed to work some since then..Joyce

40 days!!!! i will find lots to do. the main reason i decided to retire this year is because of my grandson Matt, he is 18 an a senior in high school. he will play varsity baseball. they play during the week at 3pm, i'll be at work cause i don't get off till 6. he will play in tournaments on saturday. i work EVERY saturday, i will never get to see him play so i said to myself "self what the heck are you doing" i have all my ducks in a row. my house is paid for, i've paid off all my bills, i've saved enough that i can go maybe 2 yrs with working and i said da **** with it i'm DONE!!!! 25 Yrs. is enough, i had my ah ha moment and told my boss he has me till the end of the year. i work in a jewelry store, i will work if they need me on mothers day week, valentines and xmas a week each holiday but thats it. and my boss said ok if thats what i want and i said yep thats what i want. sooooo here i am with 40 days or 39 i don't know which LOL to go.
On the day I was hired I told everyone I was retiring in 10 years. They thought I was kidding. I transferred to an overnight shift a little over a year before I retired, made for a smooth transition. I have enjoyed every minute, just not enough time in the day to do everything. I get to see the grandkids a lot which is the best perk. Enjoy the countdown and the grandson.
