Great class. I was out to dinner with friends and got home later. Stopped in to see what was happening, and was going to try to bum some wine and chocolates, was tired, turned off the 'puter and fell asleep, but I didn't think that was me doing the snoring. I want to do this as I already have some striped fabric.
And I need to get some sewing done. Haven't touched my machine since I left for COF. Have been visiting my 2 DD's. But am home now and can get back to normal.

Sorry I missed your class last night McPatches.I had a basic idea of how this runner was made but your instructions make it look so EASY. I'll definetly be on the hunt for a nice stripe next week! Thank you!

No, you cut TWO triangles out on each end. The pair near the edge you keep. They'll fit into the fabric. The 2nd set you cut out and toss. It won't match but there has to be a space for the other pair you cut out.
It'll look like this when you cut it. You do BOTH sides. Be sure the pinned section, which is the center of your TR, is at the top for cuts on both sides.
Toss out the ragged edge you cut off, keep the first triangle and set aside and toss out that 2nd pair you cut that's on the left.
Sides is ends got it...you are cutting through 2 layers for each cut flip the ruler on the other end right......I had about talked myself into something else...

May, it looks like you began one of your first cuts on the center edge and one on the outer edge. But you may be able to save it by cutting another triangle on one side so the strips will be trapazoids. Like you said - it may end up a little shorter!This message has been edited. It looks likle you didn't flip the fabric to do the left side. If you pinned along what will be the center of your TR, then that should always be at the top when you start cutting off the triangles. You should cut the left side the same as you did the first half, after you flip it to the right. The outside edges of the TR should be wider than the center section. Wow, you all did an amazing job. I had DGS overnight and this morning we made applesauce, yum, but now I'm so tired I don't think I'd better give it a try. Maybe tomorrow before the Packer game. I have the fabric and with all these pictures, I sure should be able to make the cuts I need to. I thought it was going to be way hard, but McP, you made it look easy and doable. I agree, you can save it but it will be shorter. Your right side is cut just fine. Just cut another pair of triangles off from the left side. With that fabric your center probably won't matter too much and it will save the TR.
If you flipped the left part onto the right and cut it the same way, with the pins along the top of the paired fabric, it would come out right. The pins always have to be at the top. You placed your ruler upside down.
So you have to literally flip(turn) the fabric around...and not leave it and move yourself to the other end... My pins were on the top marking my center... I just turned the ruler upside down.

TcMay....I, too,like to have pictures or a sample in front of my eyes to get it right. With running back and forth from sewing room to computer, I had to draw the pictures on my writing pad with my notes to take into the sewing room with me so I'd get it right. Even then, I have to think twice, sometimes thrice, before I take the next step.
C'bout......Yours is soooo cute. Love the fabric. It would be a good size for placemats, too. For those leftover yards of fabric, one placemat a piece all in different designs, would be great on the dining table.
My Ooops yeilded.. 2 less than perfect pretties and taught me some nice techniques...Thanks Mc Patches...Its that center thing...I got it finally but kept going with my mis-cuts. This was my sample fabric anyway and they are pretty enough for me.I will print the instructions out Monday and try my other fabric(s) next. Since I took this picture I did move a couple Triangle's around so it looks better. I'm happy.
Quiltbea...I really should know better than going back and forth...next class I'll just print it out for sure...

My table runner came out 36" inches after the extra cuts that yielded this pretty. 36 inches is better for my table anywho. The leftovers measures 19 inches at the widest point.This message has been edited. Last edited by: TcMay,

Oh Crazy! Thank you for showing yours. I cut mine yesterday before I got busy at the shop, but only cut a yard & then promptly regretted it. It will be okay anyway.
This has been a very busy weekend for me but on Tuesday I have the whole day to myself and I am going to cut one out and get it finished. All of yours look so nice and the instructions were very easy to follow. sandy
This looks really nice and I think I can follow the directions. Now I'll have to measure the table I would like to make one for Christmas and find some fabric. McP, thanks for the class and the clear instructions.
