What do the colors we use in out quilts mean to us?

Over a year ago I made a WH for a friend to help celebrate her conversion to another faith. As mini borders for the project, I included red for love, blue for peace, purple for spirituality and green for goodness.

Today I received a card and gift from a fellow quilter that used colors and I love her thoughts.

"Red....a prayer for healing for your heart.
White....a prayer that you find comfort in your memories of good times past.
Blue....a prayer for the friendship, peace and happiness for your future."

Isn't that beautiful?

Thank you, Loretta.

While we all know I have a partiality toward the RWB, wouldn't this be a nice tradition when someone on the board needs our support, our thoughts and prayers. Send them some RWB. Don't have to actually send fabrics or blocks, just include this RWB thought for them.

Yes, I was very touched by this act and would like to share it.

With RWB being my favorite color combinations I now have another reason to love the three colors. Thank you Paus for that post. I'm sending that RWB prayer back to you today. I wish you peace & joy & comfort in your heat.

Paus, thank you for your post. This is a wonderful idea and something we could all use. A RWB prayer is being sent right back Smile

http://www.empower-yourself-wi...aning-of-colors.html I tried to post a link the usual way but it doesn't seem to be working.

I sometimes send a string block for those in grief. The center string is black with the others signifying the full year it takes for the edges to soften. Snowflakes, hearts, shamrocks...pumpkins etc.
When DD married almost a month ago, the JP gave them both a box of crayons along with what each color signified. (I'll have to ask if DD has that). The JP said when life gets tough take out the crayons and use each and every color.

Thank you, All, for understanding how I was touched by my friend. Thank you for your responses.

Thank you. Emb, for sharing those thoughts on colors.

And thank you, Piney, for that link. I do believe in the power of colors. I love your string block idea. That is really nice. Maybe I could try something like that for myself to commemorate the time we had together.
