Q: HOW DO I WILL I KNOW WHAT A CW FABRIC IS? A: Unless you're an expert, the only way to be 110% sure the fabric you are picking out is an actual CW repo, is to look on the selvedge. The selvege will have the reporductions years printed on them (1850's - 1880's).
Because CW prints are very easily confused with other prints, it is required the selvedge says that it's a repo with the date 1850-1880 marked on it. I trust that we all want the real deal repos, so ladies, please, please - look at the selvedge. If you don't see the CW repo info, it's probably not. I don't want to send any back!
CW Era / Reproduction (1850’s--1880’s) Fat Quarter Swap
Hosted by: ithinksew
Here are some guidelines. I expect that each participant, regardless of the amount of swaps you've been in, please read through them! Swaps change... rules change....
MAIL BY DATE: Friday - May 2nd, 2008. Once you have mailed them, please notify me. Those i have not heard from will be removed from the swap, so please keep me posted.
1. We will be swapping 100% cotton fabric in Civil W-r Era / Reproduction (1850’s--1880’s) patterns and colors. Please, no thin, loosely woven, or see-through fabrics. NO solids. You can find examples of these fabrics by doing a search on the internet.
2. To wash or not is up to you, but please specify if you have on a label on the FQ’s. Also add your board name to your label so we will know who to thank for the lovelies we receive.
3. We will swap Fat Quarters. They must measure 18 inches by half the width of your fabric if you purchase yardage. Generally a fat quarter is 18 inches by around 22 inches (no less than 21 inches).
4. Send in as many as you'd like to receive back. Limit: 15 per person (unless we get more than 10 swappers). No more than 5 of any one fabric design.
5. Put your FQ’s in a Ziploc-type baggie. Enclose a card with your name and address on one side and mine on the other. (In case your package should get torn in the mail.)
6. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope to return your FQ’s to you. Make sure the envelope is large enough and has enough postage on it (in stamps) to cover the return trip. The Tyvek priority mail envelopes that are free at the post office work great.
7. PM me (ithinksew) with your name, hgtv name, phone number and email address to join. Also how many FQs you'll be sending in. I will email everyone with my mailing address at the end of the month.
8. Sign-ups will be on-going, but please PM me so I know to expect your FQ’s.
By the by girls... much as i admire magic tricks and those of you who can do them Please do not send me 50 FQs neatly packed and wrapped and shoved into a $4.95 flat rate priority mail envelope lol, ok? Just because you got them in there so perfectly doesn't mean that I can do the same I'm just not that talented! Please give me just a little bit of room to work with on the return envelope Thanks in advance!

Hey - I th ought I had a ton of repros.. but need to go check the selvedges to make sure they say what you said... I LOVE this fabric.. it amazes me that Miss-The-Brighter-the-Better-Sandie favors the Repros! Well.. here's the bad news. I only have 2 that say those dates on the selvedges, another has 1870-1880 and the rest are Judie Rothermel and Jo Morton and a few Wyndham and none have datesprinted on them. SORRY ... maybe you will do htis again and I will have a 'better' collection to work from! Now that I know the rules I can shop more carefully! Thanks anyway - and I know you all will have a great time. While looking thru all my pretties I decided it's t ime to start my quilt!! So I left them all out on a cutting table so I can get ready!!! I have the pattern for Sturbridge Viilage Miniatures Thirteen Stars wall hanging... I am going to try enlarging it for my own use! If I have trouble.. A mini is still really nice

Oh I know they are, and yes they are; but the selvedges don't have the dates ... As a hostess myself, I understand the importance of stated guidelines and the need to have everyone stick to them. If you don't, before long the guideline doesn't even exist and the standards are blown! And if I took it too literally the hostess will let us know!
I was so ready to take a sneak peak at your swap and read about it and then if at all reply a little comment such as... not looking! cupping hand over eyes and turning head....
but then I scrolled down - great percise rules, bytheway... and funny about the Priority box thing... LOL... then I scrolled down and saw the photos!!!! oh my!!!!
I gave up swaps last year, but ok, seriously considering this one.. and since I have typed up a reply, I will now get all the notifications sent to my emial box... (((can you say constant reminder))) lol
I did this swap with you last year and LOVED IT!!! I don't remember how many I shipped to you - but it was a lot! and I still have them all secretly gathered together on the top shelf of the sewing room stash... I call them my "top shelf" lovelies!
now... when can I plan to get to the not so L - LQS... as I am not gonna dare swap the ones I already have!
see there I am already beginning to talk myself into this!!!
eek I gotta get out of here and back to updating my bingo players of their card numbers! eek!!! ~bonnie

Talia.. thanks for putting me in .. this is going to be good - and with Bonnie off to the LQS for some more pretties... mmaybe I need to make one more run (just one, I AM stashbusting)before we send things in...
not good.. it is so hard to just choose a few when you are standing in front of them. but then maybe that is a good thing! But on the other hand when you are standing there admiring the way they sort of all seem to go together - in a comfortable sort of way .. you just want to have m o r e. I found some of my favorites by looking up Judie Rothermel .. I was hooked.
