Crayola Fabric Markers permanent or not Sign In/Join

I recently discovered these Permanent fabric markers and was soo excited. I used them on my Eagle Scout Quilt label... I had also sent a email inquiry to Crayola regarding "are they really permanent for quilt labels". This is the response I just received today 6 weeks after I sent the email.

We recently became aware of a technical glitch that may have resulted in your not receiving a response to your email inquiry, so we are resending our response below. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Below is our response as captured in our system as Reference Number 001137171B.

Dear May,
Thank you for your patience while we researched your request.

While Crayola Fabric Markers are considered permanent on fabric after they are
heat set, they may fade after repeated washings. I am sorry to disappoint you,
however, Crayola Fabric Markers may not provide the permanency on your quilt that you are hoping for.

We appreciate your contact. If additional assistance is needed, you may reach
us by telephone at (800) 272-9652 weekdays between 9 AM and 4 PM Eastern Time or
e-mail by visiting Crayola.com.

Best wishes for a colorful future!

Colorfully yours,

Now I'm bummed...I did heat set...I did wash a sample a few times prior, now think I'll make a new sample and wash it every time I do any laundry for awhile and see how long it stays nice...

Interesting; always glad to learn of possible options. Hope you let us know periodically about how it holds up. Some quilts really aren't laundered all that much, so it may work in a satisfactory way, depending on the frequency of laundering. Thanks for the research.

In 1979 I had recently gone thru a divorce and we could not afford gifts for family members. During one blizzard I had the boys color pictures on paper - with plain ole Crayola crayons. I then ironed the pics onto muslin. I made couch quilts from those blocks for my parents and my grandparents. Grandparnts are now gone but my mom still has that quilt - many many years of washing, being loved and the pics are still vibrant! And grandma cherished her quilt for her lifetime! So that's my little tidbit of information. LOL
