I want to lear needle turn applique. Like I dont have enough to do. Is do you have a favorite book.

I have a favorite teacher, Mary Sorensen. You might look to see if she has a book. I know she publishes patterns.

Piece O cake way and Robyn Pandolph both have very good books.

Check Amazon.com they may have them and you maybe able to buy them used.

As much as I love books, I found You Tube to be very helpful. I watched a couple videos and tried to stitch along with them (much slower, I'm afraid), but I thought that was the easiest way to "get" it.

Once you understand how to do it, it really is very simple. Good luck!

Go to youtube and do a search for a video on how to do it. It's free and watching someone do it is easier to learn than reading or looking at pics.

If you must have a book, I highly recommend Elly Sienkewicz's Applique 12 Easy Ways. She shows you all of the different methods of freezer paper and needleturn.

Once you get the hang of the applique stitch (which really is the same stitch you use to hand-sew your bindings down — just smaller) then check out the backbasting video. It is not a different method of applique, just a different method of preparation for needleturn. I forget who posted the link recently, but it is one of the best videos I have seen.

Your thread makes a huge difference — some people use YLI silk 100 weight, which is very thin and slippery, but really does not show on your work. Some people use Superior Thread's Bottom Line or their new line of silk threads. Experiment! You will find exactly what works for you.
