Has anyone used the Mark-be-Gone tracing paper from Dritz? I've used it for marking darts, etc for sewing. It's not waxy and comes in lots of colors. Then you can put it on top of the fabric with the pattern on top and trace it.

I've used dark with a light box. All you need is a light under a piece of glass, a coffee table or just glass sitting on some support of some kind with the light under it. I find fluorescent is better then I use a light marking pencil.

Has anyone tried Saral paper? that isn't waxy and is supposed to be used for fabric. I have some (found at a garage sale) but haven't used it yet.

I've used it on dark fabric for doing reverse applique and it comes off just fine.

I'm with bingo-bonnie, I'm just sitting back and taking notes, been experimenting with redwork, and want to try my hand at some yellow.

There's some kind of transfer pencil that you can draw on the lines and then iron on....wonder if it comes in a light enough color to show up on the dark...

I have a transfer pencil that's pink...transfers nicely to dark fabrics. It's permanent and doesn't wash out so every line must be covered with thread.

When in doubt, do the friendliest thing.
