It's been a long process but I finally finished this quilt top. The original pattern was from www.fatcatpatterns.com as a BOM several years ago but no longer free. It had 9 applique blocks - but I quit at 5. When you look at the closeup and see the number of pieces in a block, I think you will understand why. I was determined not to buy any more fabric for setting up the blocks so there are lots of shades of blue but I think it turned out fine.
that is one gorgeous quilt. I am not a Baltimore fan but yours could make me change my mind!

Very Pretty! You made some great choices, fabrics and settings for your blocks. Figuring those things out when I don't follow a quilt "plan" takes me SO much time.
Mary Lou, it's beautiful! I have been waiting to see one of these finished. Applique is so much work and I like how you switched over and did the combination.
Quiltbea, are you next to finish yours?

That's a lovely quilt!! I like applique patterns too, but some of them have a whole bunch of tiny pieces. I can understand how you'd just quit after a while. Love the blues.
Thank you for all of these wonderful compliments. Although right now I'm a little tired of looking at all those blues, I am pleased with the result. DH and I are fortunate enough to get to spend a couple of weeks each winter in sunny Florida and this applique traveled with me several winters.
I love nice machine quilting but it doesn't seem right to have a hand appliqued quilt machine quilted so I haven't decided yet which I'll do.
I think machine quilting goes very well with nice hand applique if that's what you want to do. I know you do beautiful hand quilting, so that would be a great compliment if you want to go that route.
However you decide to finish it, that is a treasure.

Beautiful! I've finished five too and have completely stalled - they're HARD. Perhaps I need to take a page from your book and alternate with something else because I think they'll sit in the closet at this stage of the game.
