It's been a long process but I finally finished this quilt top. The original pattern was from www.fatcatpatterns.com as a BOM several years ago but no longer free. It had 9 applique blocks - but I quit at 5. When you look at the closeup and see the number of pieces in a block, I think you will understand why. I was determined not to buy any more fabric for setting up the blocks so there are lots of shades of blue but I think it turned out fine.
This block is my favorite so I put it in the center.
nice work love the colors

Lovely quilt - what a lot of work! I love your colors, and I'm partial to scrappy. I think variety is the spice of life. Nice job, Mary Lou.
Beautiful. I like how you used 4 "same" pieced blocks to help expand it.
I don't mind coming to work. But that 8 hr. wait to go home is a drag.
that is one gorgeous quilt. I am not a Baltimore fan but yours could make me change my mind!

Take time for kindness & for giving. Take time for friends & happy living!
Beautiful! Love the colors and layout.
Just Beautiful! I like how you added the braid/trellis at top and bottom to give it some length.
Lovely! Congratulations on a beautiful quilt.
~There are pawprints on my heart.~
Very Pretty! You made some great choices, fabrics and settings for your blocks. Figuring those things out when I don't follow a quilt "plan" takes me SO much time.
Love it just the way it is! You did a great job.
Mary Lou, it's beautiful! I have been waiting to see one of these finished. Applique is so much work and I like how you switched over and did the combination.
Quiltbea, are you next to finish yours?
Mary Lou it's beautiful!! I love it.
That's a lovely quilt!! I like applique patterns too, but some of them have a whole bunch of tiny pieces. I can understand how you'd just quit after a while. Love the blues.
Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
my philosophy: there are no real mistakes in quilting, just design opportunities!!
It is beautiful!!!
I printed out the patterns when they were free but decided I'm not very good at needleturn applique so never started. I sure do like it!
Keep calm and carry on
Life is good!!!

I love it! I think the colors are beautiful. Nice job!
Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love.
Definitely gorgeous! I have the pattern, but because of the tedious applique it may never get done!
Does this hat make my butt look big?
That is such a wonderful timeless classic...love all the blues and yellows together...crisp and such a clean look. You did good...
Beautiful and I'm in Baltimore
Beautiful! I'll bet it is even more spectacular in person!
Thank you for all of these wonderful compliments. Although right now I'm a little tired of looking at all those blues, I am pleased with the result. DH and I are fortunate enough to get to spend a couple of weeks each winter in sunny Florida and this applique traveled with me several winters.
I love nice machine quilting but it doesn't seem right to have a hand appliqued quilt machine quilted so I haven't decided yet which I'll do.
Love, love, love it! Mary Lou, that is gorgeous.
I think machine quilting goes very well with nice hand applique if that's what you want to do. I know you do beautiful hand quilting, so that would be a great compliment if you want to go that route.
However you decide to finish it, that is a treasure.

Great quilt. Well worth all the time you put into it... Chris
Pretty! I remember printing those off...still have 'em somewhere to make, someday.
Very pretty quilt & I love the layout of your blocks. Looks like a lot of delicate work went into the making. Looks like a winner.
I've always loved the Baltimore quilts, and have visions of making one someday. I especially like your color choices. Wonderful work.
It is lovely! You did a great job on it. Very appealing color combo.
Friends divide our sorrows and multiply our joys.
That is beautiful!!
So Beautiful!! Something you'll treasure always!!
I love it!!! You did a great job.
Very pretty! I will be right down to get it. LOL! Blue is my favorite color.
That is a beautiful quilt. I love the applique and patchwork together, and the colors are my favorites. Good job!
You have one beautiful quilt there. What an accomplishment and a wonderful heirloom! Great Job!
What a beauty! You did a fantastic job.
"Wishing you sunshine and blessings"
Very beautiful. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful! I've finished five too and have completely stalled - they're HARD. Perhaps I need to take a page from your book and alternate with something else because I think they'll sit in the closet at this stage of the game.
Great job and congrats on finishing that quilt!
very pretty quilt!
Very pretty! You know how much I love blue so if your are really tired of that color..... just saying LOL! Seriously, gorgeous quilt!
