I need to make a baby quilt with a corvette theme for a good friend of my son. I've never seen a pattern and have no good ideas! Any help or inspiration would be appreciated.

I made a thunderbird quilt for my DH. It was applique. He went online and found pictures of a 1965 and 2002 thunderbird and I cut them out and appliqued them on white kona cotton. I used route 66 fabric for the backing. It came out real nice and he loves it. Just a thought.

Thank you, you've both been helpful. I have an old pieced pattern called "start your engines" that I think I'd like to adapt. I tried to find it on the Internet to show you, but I guess it's too old. The corvette fabric looks good, I'll make that the border or back. I want to show my son some options and start on the quilt in January.

It looks like a good way to use large scale prints, thanks!

This is the pattern I'm hoping to use:

Try googling corvette coloring pages, this is a classic if you can picture it in the red and white version, with the white wall tires Smile

That's a great idea!

I'm hoping to avoid applique because I don't think it will stand up to the frequent washing of a baby quilt, but I haven't completely ruled it out.
