One of my co-worker's sister had knee surgery on Thursday & will be using a walker for about 3 weeks so I made her a tote to use on her walker. I sort of made it with generic colors as their dad fell a few weeks ago & messed up his shoulder/arm & rotater cuff & will be using a walker when his shoulder is healed (he is very fragile & does not walk well. When the sister is finished using the walker she will pass it on to him so I didn't want real "girly" fabric on it. This is only the second one I've ever made & it seems like the pockets were bigger in the first one I made & I didn't make any notes on the pattern to know if I enlarged them or not. I don't have a walker to try it on so I'm really hoping it will fit. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

Here's a pic of the back. I wanted you to see that I made this from an old pair of DH's jeans & I used the back pocket from the jeans on the tote. It's a little hard to see from this pic. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

Very pretty Nicki. Perfect for both male and female, I know both of them will love it.

Super recycling project! Love the surprise of the "real" pocket on the back. Sorry about the reasons you had to make it, though.

That is good!!! Great insight on using the neutrals.

very cute Nicki! Good job!

nice job! a wonderful and useful gift! Sandy O! made me one when i had my knee replacements, and it was so handy! I was able to carry my water bottle, and coffee in a travel mug from the kitchen to the living room. And when i went to therapy,my insurance card and other little things, that would of normally been in my purse. I just loved it!

I lined it & made the pockets on the inside deeper than the outside ones. I saw a picture for one for sale that was made like a saddle blanket & it hung over the top bar of the walker with pockets on the front & back. It had velcro & after you put it on the bar you just velcroed on to stay in place. The ad showed the dimensions of the pocket & the overall of the whole thing so I might try that type next time. It looks a lot easier to make then this type that I did & there would be no worries of it fitting. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

What a good idea to use the jeans and pocket. I would like to know how it was made too someday. Summers are just this side of hell, but you don't have to shovel sunshine... http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j8/KGinCA/

I agree with Jayardi that it would make for a thoughtful and useful gift and a PJ Party would a perfect place to share!

A PJ party I'd make an extra effort to stay awake for Can you share the dimensions you used?

You did a wonderful job, it looks great. And it would be great for a PJ party. I love that you used the jeans and the pocket is on the back. Mary

i used "Sewing with Nancy's" free pattern, when i made one for my brother..i used ticking fabric. http://www.nancysnotions.com/j...ING&page=walkercaddy the top and side straps were 2 inches wide. i used velcro to secure them to the walker.

real nice | ||||

My goodness....I stopped in tonight to look for a pattern for just this item. Lol..my friend is having a hip replacement in a few weeks and will be borrowing my walker I used for mine. I remember always wishing i had something to help me carry things when noone was around. Very nice job.

This tote took me several hours to make & I'm not even sure if it will fit a walker since I didn't have one to try it on. I used this pattern: http://www.laurassewingstudio...._Bag/walker_bag.html but had some difficulties with it. I either didn't read the pattern right, or it left out steps but the pockets on the outside sure did seem short. I also took extra steps to line it & put pockets on the inside also. I want to try one like this next time: http://jimmiewriter.hubpages.com/hub/Walker-Totebag I know it will not take near as long to make but the only concern I have about making it is that it will be "floppy" on the walker & don't know if this will be a concern or not.
