We're discussing what decade we were born in and one unusual fact about ourselves.

Share on! And feel free to ask your own questions! Big Grin

Well I might as well answer the question too! Cool

I was born in 1977, so I'm 31 now. I honestly feel about 17 most of the time, so age doesn't bother me...yet... Wink

Hmm... an odd fact about me... just one?!? Eek umm... okay. I can't decide, so how bout several?
1. I have an unhealthy obsession with office supplies. Not plain ones, but stuff like weird paper clips, funky colored folders, etc. Seriously, I can go in Office Depot and just wander the aisles for an hour.

2. I like fried gator tail. There was (hopefully still IS) a restaurant in Clewiston, FL called Dixie Fried that served the BEST gator tail nuggets!

3. I am a hopeless packrat. And yet I know where EVERYTHING is, all the time.

4. I love looking at floor plans. DH and I will never build a new house, but looking at the plans is enough for me! I've controlled myself so far and haven't bought any plan magazines, I just content myself with the free ones in the home improvement ads.

5. I have a school-girl crush on Orlando Bloom. And DH knows it. Big Grin

Whew! That's enough for now! I don't want yall to sit there thinking "And SHE'S our co-hostess?!?" Eek

Cool

Funny things:
Me: "It's time for bed and I want you to be quiet."
Son: "Well... I don't know... but I'll try."

I am a baby boomer of the 50's in my 50s. I never discuss my phobia because people have pranked me with it before and I never found it funny.
TaliaI do want to tell you that my thirties were the best years of my life. I would go back there in a heartbeat if I could. You will see. Also I am worried about your fainting. You ought to check with a doctor, I have something called positional vertigo, I used to get very dizzy than pass out. I have it under control by taking meclizine (SP) twice a day.

Here is my most unusal trait. I seem to always get in trouble for telling the truth. It is one of the things that Sagittarius are known for. So since I hate to lie, I am learning to keep quite instead. Big Grin by the way that is not working out well, either. Big Grin

Talia -- I am sew glad you are ok. Do you need me to come down there and take care of you? Do you need more (or less) chocolate? Are you getting this checked out? Maybe it's a subconscious effort to avoid turning 30 -- it's not sew bad, you know. Lots of people have done it.
What's unusual about me? Hmmmm, I like to think of myself as a pretty normal human being. Have you ever watched Gilmore Girls? If I didn't know better, I would say that the writers modeled Lorelei afer me. She and I think and act sew much alike. She gets the laughs though and I just see people shaking their heads at me.

I love to travel but I hate going anywhere or doing anything new. Rick Steves and I are good friends.

Lisa, I'm embarrassed to say that I did not know who Orlando Bloom was. Sigh, guess I need to get out more!

Talia, I hope that you are feeling better. I have passed out a few times, but one time was at home when our oldest was seven months old and it was just the two of us at home. My blood pressure dropped suddenly as I was sick at the time. Ended up with eight (I think) staples in the back of my head, ouch! Take good care of yourself, girl.

I can also identify with Lisa's #3 item.

Usually I feel pretty young. I was born in 1974, but there are an awful lot of you that are younger than me and that's making me feel older! LOL No really, I'm with Talia on health issues making you feel older than you are. I've noticed a lot of the ladies in their 30's on this board seem to have some major issues. Did we get into quilting because of them or is it just a coincidence? For me, I can no longer work and quilting helps fill the time. It also lifts my spirits when I'm in the dumps.

As for something unusual about myself...
1. I have 5 pets right now and if it weren't for my husband's restraint that # would be higher.
2. I also lust*ed after Orlando Bloom - but only in L*rd of the Rings with his long blond hair.
3. I used to be a computer programmer.
4. I sleep ~12 hours a day.

Connie: I'm sorry but the signup for Secret Sister's has closed. Maybe you can join next year?

This is such a crack up!
OK, that comment shows my age........
I just recently watched the movie "Get Smart". Well....I know all the orginal cast and lines of that TV show. Give you a hint at my age????
Born 1956. Age is 52. As far as age, I like getting older cause I'm not ready to leave yet.
I just wish older didn't mean less agile. That's the one thing that stinks about ageing.
I just can't do what I use to do.
My something unusual is:
I ride a cycle. A Yamaha VStar Classic 650. It's PURPLE!!!
SO COOL!!!! My husband and I cycle together.
Cool

HAHAHAHAHAHAH) ok i have problems and now you all REALLY know!!! Razz Eek omg i'm lmao over here i crack myself up. but no, i will seriously go if it happens again.

Happy Erm - that trait that we both share i've often been called a bad name that begins with a "B" for Wink ends in "H" .. you've gotta know the one Wink so yeah i'm not a sag, i'm a pisces, but still it's a trait of mine!

Connie, Secret Sister sign ups are closed unfortunately HOWEVER!!!!! I can put your name on the list in case someone has to drop out. If they do, you will inherit their LSS. We're just passing time right now until January begins Smile I'd like to direct you to the first topic so that you can see what "Secret Sister" is all about Smile

Will, I guess nobody wants to admit their age. I was born in 1943 (yes I am 65 years old) I have children older than some of you are. Something about me. For a fund raiser a few years ago.I slid into 500 gallons of Red Jello. Did it in 2001,2002.and for the last time in 2003 My husband thought that I was crazy.(maybe I am) The first time I did it it was on a dare. To get the full picture I am not a skinny person Or even a normal size. I am on the overweight size. I am also a pack rat (not even a organized one)

I was born in 1951. My oldest daughter is older than Talia. I don't mind telling my age, but not my weight. I will say there is a lot of me to love. I am a cancer survivor, 25 years now. You would think by now I wouldn't worry about it coming back but I do. The most unusual thing, I guess would be if I turn my head to the left, I get really dizzy. If I turn it for a long time, I pass out. The doctors don't know why so I guess it's just my weirdness. I got it checked out the first time I passed out and Talia, you should get it checked out too. I have fibromyalgia but it doesn't seem to be related to that.

i feel like i am =/ if i eat anymore i'll be over eating i think. and i have a drink with me at all times of the day.

oh betty Smile 65 isn't old Smile do you know there was a woman who stood 4 hours in line to vote, she was 106?! Eek that's freakin awesome! and that's a bit on the older side Wink

deb i've never had a problem admitting my age or weight. when i was 25 i was 287lbs. i am now 28 (ughhh so close to 30 i could d*ie, we talked about age being as old as you feel, i feel old) and i'm 120lbs. even when i was 286 i had no problem saying it. you are what you are. Individuality is what makes you YOU and we're all special and impactful to one another. Think about how we all visit each other here to bounce things off each other and get ideas. We're all special no matter what our age, weight, blah blah blah Smile That being said, you still have the right to reserve the age/weight LOL! I respect everyone's right to privacy Smile

Now, i'm off to shower to go to the food store. Big Grin

lrsuchomel - you mentioned Gilmore Girls, which was one of my favorite shows - and I always thought it was so wonderful that Lorelai sewed on the show!

I know I discovered quilting AFTER I got cancer. Deb51 - you mention that you still think about it coming back....that's something I think about all the time.

I was born in 1969. Can't remember if i said that before or not.

It is great hearing about all these interesting people!

Talia - I would suggest if you have passed out or fainted several times, keeping track of the circumstances of the day and at that time, there may be a pattern. Stress or food or weather or some medical condition, whatever it is, keeping track and giving it to the doc is a suggestion of mine.
