Congratulations!!! I know you felt this day would never get here, but it's now arrived and you will be so surprised at how the coming days and weeks go.
If I'd known you'd yearned for those dishes, I could have set you up. One of my favorite aunts told me she had some dishes she wants me to help her sell...I think your pattern may be what she called them.
Now, get yourself a calender...cause you're gonna find yourself wondering what day it is.

Congratulations! I never expected to enjoy retirement but I LOVE it! One reason is that I have two days a month that I invite my ex-coworkers to my house. We eat an easy meal and play a game. After knowing most of them for 30 years I wanted to continue to see them. I also joined several other groups and am much more social than I was before I retired. You must have very special relationship since they got you such an amazing gift. I'm sure you'll think about them everytime you use it.

Congratulations, Patsy! Enjoy your retirement starting with the New Year and many years to come. Now, what are you waiting for ?!?, pack your bag and head to Disneyland!!
Enjoy your new dinnerware! What a sweet gift from your co-workers. Maybe there is time for a tea party before the fun at Disneyland begins.

I'm so happy for you that this day has arrived! And what a super gift they are sending you off with! Relax and enjoy!!!!
Summers are just this side of hell, but you don't have to shovel sunshine...
Congratulations, Patsy! I love that pattern, and I'm like you — too cheap to buy it. If I ever get a permanent job, perhaps I should start hinting that I really, really like them.
That was very sweet of them to listen to you and get you exactly what you wanted. Every time you use them you will think fondly of your co-workers (and hopefully forget those not-so-good days that all work seems to generate).

That's what makes them "family", isn't it? Congratulations on this next journey. From my experience, you're going to love it!
Patsy, just think that tomorrow or the next day when ever you would have had to go to work you can set your alarm clock to the usual time and when it go off you can turn it off and roll over and go back to sleep. Than after that through the clock out the window, and start your retirement. Happy retirement and Happy New Year.

couldn't happen to a nicer person, the dishes are gorgeous, what a beautiful table it will set - looking forward to spending time with you, a retirement well deserved

Welcome to the ranks of the retired! Just a suggestion: take a few months to just acclimate yourself to not having to get up and get to work. During that time, you can make your plans for how you're going to organize your sewing room/area, what quilts you're going to do, what fabrics you still need in your stash, etc. Then just go with the flow, and remember, if you don't get what you planned done today, there's always tomorrow.
It's beautiful - what a wonderfully touching gift. Enjoy your retirement!! I'm told you'll be busier than ever

Congratulations Patsy on both your retirement and on your choice of thoughtful co-workers and their gift!

Dec 31, 2012, 08:58 PM
Yeeeeeeeea Patsy! Now you are going to find out that you are going to be busier than ever and will soon be saying "I don't know how I ever found time to work" I'm so very happy for you that your big day has finally arrived!
"She said she usually cried at least one each day, not because she was sad, but because the world was so beautiful & life was so short"
Congratulations on your retirement! You will wonder how you ever had any time to do anything, and the days fly by when you retire! It's the best thing I ever did!
This set looks like the same one my DIL has and it's made by Royal Albert. She inherited it from her GM. If you want additional plates, etc. or an item you don't have, check Ebay. There's a lot of Country Rose pieces on there.

Thisis really OT but my husbands grandmother worked for Syracuse China and she made her own china......
Jan 02, 2013, 11:19 PM
Patsy, I am with Nickie, I dont know how I ever had time to work. I turn around and the day is gone.
Enjoy your china, use it, dont put it away for special occasions, make every day count and like lindaj52 says, there is always tomorrow.
Congrats to you again....how thoughtful is that present!! I've enjoyed reading the suggestions so far given to you on the board...and congrats also me!! I'm still trying to process this, as my decision was made last minute...my last day of work, 12/30, fell in my work schedule just before my "off days"...so I've missed a couple days of work so far, welllll, not missed it at all!! I am getting up in the morning, to take gks to school but then my days are mine!!! I've already dropped in on one of the charity quilt groups I'm involved in, to start getting more involved. I'm still trying to catch my breath!
