I picked up McCalls Quilting America Loves Scrap Quilts magazine and found several quilts I liked a lot. One of them is a yoyo quilt. Now I've made hundreds of yoyos so it's not a matter of learning how to make them. BUT my question is: are they easier, faster and more perfect is size if using the yoyo maker? In other words Big Grin do I need this tool? LOL There are a lot of yoyos - a project for when I have non productive time away from home, traveling or in front of the tv. I love the look of this quilt (it's different than my yoyo quilt) but I will not have the jagged edges like the quilt in the magazine and fill in the edges with the white so it will be rectangular. Thanks for the advice you wonderful quilting folks!

The short answer to your question is yes. This tool is worth it. I am making a yo yo coverlet and have used it. All yo yos are perfectly uniform, the come together quickly and it's easy to use. Use a JoAnns coupon and get one there. It will only be a couple dollars and worth the price to try it out.

oh the clover yoyo maker is fun and they come out perfect. my girlfriend makes yoyo scarves for her bureaus and she uses a tacking stitch on her machine to connect them together. it is faster than hand sewn and the connection is sturdier. Smile

I haven't used the tool yet, but I did once make 300 of the little suckers. I quit when I found out I'd made them wrong. All wrong. I'll try making them one more time with the tool...the hearts look really cute.

A friend of mine just gave me one, says she has no interest in yoyo's. Must be the large, measures approx. 2 and 3/8 inches. Is this the largest size made?

Okay, thanks so much - perhaps I will try it then - and yes I thought I'd use my coupon - and it is a small investment if I like it. Big Grin Thanks for all of your advice!

Hi ladies,
I have never made yo-yo's and have been so curious if the new clover tools were good? Also, if you are starting out which size is the most popular to make? I think they are so pretty.
Thanks for any advice,
Wanda

Hi Wanda - the yoyo sizes are up to you OR the pattern you are using but they are very forgiveable for the sizes. I have an antique yoyo quilt that has big yoyos 3". The pattern I want to make has smaller yoyo's - it really is up to you. I made a table mat with 1" yoyos too. Have fun - they are easy, mindless and you can do a lot with them.

YoYo Queen here! Love them. Check the "actual finished size" photo on your new Yo Yo maker, it can be deceiving. The more I make, the larger one looks better!
