Patsy, looks like you had fun once.LOL Retirement is great, but be careful of your time or you won't get to sew as often as you are thinking you will now.

Congrats. I have 10 more months until retirement. I can hardly wait. I have switched up a few things already. I found I was too wrapped up in quilting and forgot my first love--flowers. I have cut down considerably on the quilting and have been having a blast in my flower gardens. They are going to be the best ever this year. Oh, I still love to quilt and buy fabric, just not as much as flowers in the warm months.

I have 8 years to go. sigh. I'm looking forward to it, but I've got to slog through the next 8 years first.

I waited six years after I was eligible. I really wanted DH to retire first and get a routine not dependent on me. I did not want to become his full time maid & cook. He retired and I discovered he had the freedom of going to see the children. At spring break I decided while driving alone from San Antonio that I was retiring in May. Hurry, hurry to get paperwork done! The week after I retired the contractor started our house remodel. It was months before I cooked a meal. I still refuse to cook 3/day and DH has breakfast or lunch buddies 5 days a week! A good friend retired at the same time as her DH. They sold her car so now they are joined at the hip except he does zero house or yard work! She has to ask for money for lunch if we pick her up! That's retirement?

I feel like I'm working 20 hours/day, but it's so much fun!
It looks like I have 4-5 years left to teach, but as long as I get to go the the shop after school every day - I'm good!

That is good to know about one car. DH wants to get rid of the 2 cars we drive and get a new replacement one. He still will ahve a 2002 and 1965 thunderbirds. Now you got me thinking if I want my car to go. I can but do not drive the thunderbirds. My husband retired almost 2 years ago and all he does around his is take out the trash and wash the dishes. He refuses to do anything else. I wander why all the other crap is my job whne I am still working. Let me shut up before I get in trouble.

Oh, my goodness, NO!!! Don't give up your car!! It is amazing how life gets in the way of sewing, though.

After you've not worked for a while, you wonder how you ever got anything done when you DID work!! Time management, for sure, and now I don't worry about it too much. Smile

When I retired I had no thought of giving up my truck. My DH would not suggest that I give it up although he has spent over 5 years and 5 differnt cars trying to get me out of my truck. The first 2 cars I refused to drive the 3rd car I drove once in a while the 4th car I would drive more willingly and the present car I will drive more often than all the rest but I usually just take my truck.
As for retirement I love it but wonder how come I got more done before I retired than I do now.
