Okay, we have some movers and shakers leaving January in the dust! How many will finish a Christmas gift or decoration for February? This thread is to get you motivated early in the year so Christmas 2012 won't be such a busy time and we can all enjoy a little more time. You may join anytime during the year. Each month that you complete at least one Christmas item you will get a star for that month. In December I will have a family member choose a ticket with the lucky winner. The winner will receive a fq from the rest of the group. I'm kind of thinking instead of a Christmas fq we should allow the winner to choose their theme. I have 2 grand daughters with birthdays coming up and wanted to make each one a purse. Was not picturing in my mind just how big this one was, so I made one that will be a Christmas gift for the little neighbor girl. Her and her daddy are BIG Duck fans so this should fit the bill!! (sorry that just came out!) Am waiting to see what everyone does this month. Margie

Rainbow - no it's the later not the former. We are not getting older, I will not accept that fact. Lana - thanks (giggle giggle) for the update! Off to the sewing room.............tata Treat your body like you will live forever Treat your soul like you will die tomorrow

I pieced and cut the corners off of the Missouri Star Quilt Co's tree skirt today - I'm going to add a border when I can get to the store and then on to a quilter or rent the machine - whichever I can afford. So I'm kinda half way done with my first tree skirt. HOW ABOUT YOU???? Anyone have anything to share???? Treat your body like you will live forever Treat your soul like you will die tomorrow

My original idea for this challenge was to do redwork on white towels. I found an online source for towels, ordered them and they have arrived. I need to wash them next. I think I have found a couple of patterns that I would like to use. One has holly and berries, so I'm off to look for a variegated green floss. The next thing I want to do is soak the threads in water and vinegar to set the colors. Does anyone know how much vinegar to add to the water?
I have my Trees all around ready to sandwich..just need to cut the backing. I also have a Tree Skirt all cut out and some of the piecing done...and I have a Feb BOM on the table now just need to do borders and then appliques the hearts down...and I went fabric shopping tis morning too. Vickiquilts, l'm glad it's just the kids having more energy! Here are my stack and whack placemats that l made ot match the table runner l made last month. My Christmas quilt fabric is still waiting on me. l have my 2 grandgirls this weekend so l haven't done anything l wanted to do but you can check out the Stashbusting Thread to see what me and my oldest DGD did if you want! ====================== l would be unstopable IF l could get started!!! ![]()

I know this post has nothing at all to do with this thread but I am going to post the picture and write down the instructions on how to do it so I don't have to sit so long trying to remember the process. I know I know if I would just get to sewing on all those Christmas projects and post the pictures I would remember!!!! This vanilla is for Christmas.
Now if I just don't lose the notes! Guess I should make the pictures smaller.
Ok glad I found this vanilla beans in vodka. I better get started now.. What is the recipe? How are you going to use the Vodka ?
I'm doing a couple of mini BOM to be used for gifts..Here is one.. May "In Michigan"
I put the vanilla into little bottles and give as gifts. It won't be until December. Some people only make it 6-8 weeks before giving. I shake it daily for the first several weeks. Will do vanilla sugar later.
I make my own vanilla also and give as gifts to those I know like to bake a lot. LOL I always explain to the person selling me my vodka that it is for making vanilla - like they care! My projects completed this month weren't Christmas themed, but were holiday related. I finished (and mailed out!) my contributions to lovemy4kids' daughter's nicu service project (the turtle quilt) and nlk's Mrs. Claus doll quilt project. Goal for next month is to piece a red/white/green string quilt, with (hopefully) the bulk of the blocks coming from Sandie's cyoc swap last year. Thanks so much for hosting this -- what a motivator! ![]()
i am 1 square and 2 rows away from finishing block 2 and then onto block 3 hoping to having block 3 done before i go to seattle on march 5th hope to take pictures when i am done with block 2

I have binding on my Christmas quilt. Since Shey made the beautiful stars, I named it Shey's Stars. The picture is not very good since my old camera is eating batteries. The sashing that looks black is actually dark green but hopefully you can see how beautiful the stars are. This is my favorite Christmas quilt.

Oh Deb - that quilt is absolutely GORGEOUS! It would be my fav too - And Karribean Quilter -cute projects - I'm marking them down for Christmas - right?
