Okay, we have some movers and shakers leaving January in the dust! How many will finish a Christmas gift or decoration for February? This thread is to get you motivated early in the year so Christmas 2012 won't be such a busy time and we can all enjoy a little more time. You may join anytime during the year. Each month that you complete at least one Christmas item you will get a star for that month. In December I will have a family member choose a ticket with the lucky winner. The winner will receive a fq from the rest of the group. I'm kind of thinking instead of a Christmas fq we should allow the winner to choose their theme.

I have 2 grand daughters with birthdays coming up and wanted to make each one a purse. Was not picturing in my mind just how big this one was, so I made one that will be a Christmas gift for the little neighbor girl. Her and her daddy are BIG Duck fans so this should fit the bill!! (sorry that just came out!)

Am waiting to see what everyone does this month.

You ladies are making such lovely things. I sit here unmotivated. My interest is in cleaning up my sewing room and fabric room. Love looking at all of your creations and dreaming of what I could be making.

I pieced and cut the corners off of the Missouri Star Quilt Co's tree skirt today - I'm going to add a border when I can get to the store and then on to a quilter or rent the machine - whichever I can afford. So I'm kinda half way done with my first tree skirt. HOW ABOUT YOU???? Anyone have anything to share????

My original idea for this challenge was to do redwork on white towels. I found an online source for towels, ordered them and they have arrived. I need to wash them next. I think I have found a couple of patterns that I would like to use. One has holly and berries, so I'm off to look for a variegated green floss.

The next thing I want to do is soak the threads in water and vinegar to set the colors. Does anyone know how much vinegar to add to the water?

I know this post has nothing at all to do with this thread but I am going to post the picture and write down the instructions on how to do it so I don't have to sit so long trying to remember the process. I know I know if I would just get to sewing on all those Christmas projects and post the pictures I would remember!!!! This vanilla is for Christmas.

I put the vanilla into little bottles and give as gifts. It won't be until December. Some people only make it 6-8 weeks before giving. I shake it daily for the first several weeks. Will do vanilla sugar later.

My projects completed this month weren't Christmas themed, but were holiday related. I finished (and mailed out!) my contributions to lovemy4kids' daughter's nicu service project (the turtle quilt) and nlk's Mrs. Claus doll quilt project. Goal for next month is to piece a red/white/green string quilt, with (hopefully) the bulk of the blocks coming from Sandie's cyoc swap last year. Thanks so much for hosting this -- what a motivator!

I have binding on my Christmas quilt. Since Shey made the beautiful stars, I named it Shey's Stars. The picture is not very good since my old camera is eating batteries. The sashing that looks black is actually dark green but hopefully you can see how beautiful the stars are. This is my favorite Christmas quilt.

That smile is contagious! She looks like one of my dgd's - seriously.... Ely - I hope you get a pic up. Hey everyone, I'm so sorry I'm hardly on here anymore let alone in the sewing room Cry I am doing my best to keep up but so tired from work and just can't get it going. I hope you ALL will continue to sew on your Christmas projects/gifties! I will try to check in each week and see how everyone is doing. I have several projects near completion - just waiting for me to get in there but doubt any will be done anytime soon. Your involvement will encourage me to work on them...... blessings, Vicki
