I am VERY pleased! She's so shiny at first I thought she may have been refinished. Second look, No. The only major worn spot is the top of the wheel where someone started the machine and possibly kept their hand there until it got to running good.

The case is good with just some wear on the bottom. All the attachments, oil, grease, needles, bobbins (those on the table do not fit this machine, but will fit DMs 1954 Singer in a cabinet).

Congratulations Sherry she is beautiful! My case is in pretty good condition some wear on the corners...except I don't have the tray.
If I could figure out how to connect my cell phone charger cord to my computer to upload pictures I'd post some here...
Oh and just curious does yours have the scroll face plate? I really like that feature. Mine doesn't.

Congratulations, Sherry!! These always look so great and everybody loves using them. There were three or four at quilting bee on Tuesday. If there was any excuse to have another sewing machine, I'd get one too.

She's a beauty, Sherry! I really need to break mine out and use it . . . have been so intimidated, and it's been a few years.

Have lots of fun, we look forward to seeing more pics of things that you whip up while playing!

No, no scroll face plate...just vertical "ribs." Not JUST vertical ribs...just no scrolls. ;-)

SIL and I hope to get the two babies together this weekend to see how nice they play together and name them. I need some new oil and grease, not sure if this old stuff breaks down over the years. So we'll "anoint" them with oil too. Big Grin

LisaTX, Yes you need to get yours out to play! If it's anything like my old 1954 model Singer (not a Featherweight), these things are tough as a boat anchor!! Back in my skinny days wearing skintight jeans, I made my own jeans. Did fancy stitching on the back pockets, fly front, twice rolled hem. That old machine could sew through multiple layers of good denim!

Beautiful machine. I named mine "Baby", but she is a little mint green one and she's my "baby".

I got to thinking - I know dangerous for me Big Grin - I betcha the reason the top of the wheel is worn is because Baby replaced a treadle machine and the orginal owner generally turned the wheel to get it started. ?? Does that sound feasible?

I'm telling y'all. That's the ONLY worn spot on the whole machine. The gold coin medallion on the front is so shiny I would've bet money on a restoration until I saw that wheel. There are some scratches on the bed of the machine, but still...

I'm in love. Smile

Sounds feasible to me. I can still visualize Mama spinning that wheel to get going on her treadle machine.

She's just beautiful. I love mine and wouldn't part with her for nothin'. Mine isn't in as good a shape as yours, the bed is scratched and some of the gilding is off the lily (ok, that just deserves a snort). I hope you enjoy her as I've enjoyed mine.

Be prepared to oil it regularly. They require a bit of care, but will last forever if you do it.

Congrats on the great find.

Mine is "Shirley Anne"...SILs is Miss Mae (her DMs middle name as well as SILs middle name is "Mae"). Photos are on my new cell phone and I haven't figured out the connection between the phone and my computer to transfer them...yet.

SIL and I have dreamed about opening a sandwich shop/tea house and calling it "Ruby Mae's" after my DGM and her DM. Of course it would most definitely have some rooms with fabric. Big Grin

We have purchased lottery tickets on occasion...that's the only way we could afford to take the gamble and not have to worry about turning a profit. LOL Once we even had an old 2-story on a major highway picked out...I even called the realtor...LOL...dreaming BIG! When the DHs overheard us talking about it, BIL the ever practical man, said he'd give us three years to turn a profit. Ahem...Exuuuusssee me. My money...SILs money. You aren't a partner. We don't have to turn a profit. pffffttttt Sometimes he doesn't like me. LOL Imagine THAT! bwahahaha
