Butterfly blocks from the colors, and the bug fabric piece for the back? One yard is a good size for the back on a little baby quilt. My guild makes tons of baby quilts that size.
Butterfly block I just happen to have open on a web page right now....
Except I'd PP the 2 side units so I wouldn't have to fuss with fabric at odd angles without a foundation under it. But how fast would those blocks be -- you don't even have to make any seams or units match in the middle, because that strip is there! You could use white or hot pink for the background instead of black, and make scrappy butterflies, if you have other pinks & greens in your stash.
You could UP size the butterflies to cut down on the number needed, too.

How about split rail fence blocks with the 4 1/2 yards.. and cut the yard up in the same size blocks and alternate them for a quilt top.

Not sure if you have enough for a warm wishes but the fabric just screams that pattern to me

i cant visualize it.. the little bugs left whole as a block and use the others as a rail fence?
The pattern that Q4K sends in their kits would work-it alternates 4 patch and squares of a print-maybe use the two light colors for the 4 patch, bugs for print and darker pink for border.
ETA: Just noticed there are three light fabrics-might use lighest color for narrow border. KarenThis message has been edited. Last edited by: May Baby,

Kim, I had to chuckle when I saw your topic name--like your neighbor would have an old baby! LOL! How's my buddy Joe?

One of the LQS that I often shop at sponsors quilt-making efforts for a children' hospital. Here's the method they use for the quick and easy quilts. http://www.thesilverpenny.com/...rojectCribQuilt.html The make a slight change in the pattern to make it even simpler. They use width of fabric strips and do not add any borders. I've make quite a few of these and, though they aren't intricate in design, with your cute fabrics it would be really cute. Here's a pic showing a couple of 4-H girls with the quilt they made this way.
If you are looking for something easy, the baby size "Yellow Brick Road" pattern calls for 6 FQs plus 1.25 or 1.5 yard depending on the size of the quilt (48"x48" or 48"x57") yards for border and binding.

KC, Joe started back to work yesterday. 13 hr shift. After 5 months of being off work, i was ready for him to go back. We will see how he does.
Lots of great ideas here! I am thinking the split rail/warm wishes will show off the cute bug fabric the best. Thanks for all the help!
May, i have lots of fabric,it is just a matter of looking! thanks for the offer!

Sorry too late in reading this post, this is a baby quilt I made with a charm pack. The pattern is free from the Moda Bakeshop. I couldn't find the link this morning but I do have the PDF saved if anyone wants it.
I had viewed this thread before and when I saw the fabrics I immediately thought WW!! Was going to make a comment to that affect but someone already had....such good ideas (as always) everyone had! So I had to come and see the finished top! Just Perfect! Beautiful! Your neighbor is going to love it!

Kim, that turned out just darling, bet the new mom will be impressed and it doesn't look like you just made it from your stash, great job. TFS the finished quilt. Pat
i was happily sewing the binding strips together this morning..started pressing it, and guess what? i sewed them together wrong..the seam is on the right side of fabric! ROFL! so i took it outside on the deck, and unsewed them all..while watching the hummers on my flowers..
