Some kid would go gaga over that! Can you imagine playing I Spy with it?!

I like the black + white + color polka dot quilt on that page, too.

I'm crazy for the yellow backing with the roses on it. LOVE that!!!

The freedom! The joy!,the fun! That would get me out of my box FOR SURE.

That would be a great quilt for a kids bedroom. Keep 'em occupied for a nap!

Her quilt is really pretty but it does have the flair more toward the original trip around the world pattern the way she put like pieces of fabrics together. I really like the look of hers.

Love it! I took the Scrappy Trips class with Bonnie Hunter last year in Vermont and had a good time. Haven't done many blocks since, but strips are cut and ready to go. It's quick and easy. My first block was too bland. Need some contrast between fabrics to make the pattern pop. Choose the strongest semisolid strip as your diagonal for each block, or use the same color in every block for maximum enhancement of the diagonal. Lots of fun! I've also seen it done in men's shirt plaids and stripes. Strips are 2 1/2" by about 18". Free pattern is at Quiltville.com. One lady was using all purples, and it did work. Give it a go!

I made two Eleanor Burn's TATW using this same method but like these smaller blocks better. Plus the variety of diagonal colors is awesome. A master quilter once told me a quilt should make your eyes move around the top. These certainly do that. Now I want to cut my scraps into strips instead of the squares that I have in a dozen bins.

I am working on a Scrappy Trip right now. My 10yr old DD decided she needed a new quilt and this is the pattern we chose. I let her pull fabrics from my stash and this is the pile we ended up with!

This is a fun recipe!!! Wink Yes, I have it printed off now!! Big Grin

And for those of you who have cut tons of squares from your scraps - uh, why?? Kidding!! I do it to, BUT I do not cut down long lengths for squares - I cut up only what I do not think is long enough for a strip. Meaning, if I have a piece of fabric 'x' size, I figure out how to get the biggest pieces from it. If it is already a strip and it's say, 2.5" and 24" long, it just gets put into my strip bin. (bigger and smaller sizes too, yes all the strips I save have their own bin~!) but if the strip is only 10", I cut into squares then.
And so, I am now the proud owner of a mess of ready to use pieces: nickles, strips, ect! at no cost except for my time and the possibilities are endless of what to do with them!!!

Yes, it's hip to be square but you can strip too!!! Wink

Just "de-constructed" 4 more plaid shirts for some "Trips" or a Bonnie Bargello. http://quiltville.blogspot.com...crappy-bargello.html I hope I have enough shirts and variety to get going, cause debbie's quilt has just reminded me how much I need to have a couple of these quilts to keep us warm and cozy.
They are SO gorgeous!!!

Wonder how many shirts I really need?
