I know in the past some of you have done quilts where you receive two crayons and have to make the quilt using those colors. I've never taken part in this but would like to present it to my quilt group as a project.

Could someone outline how this was done, guidelines, etc.?

Thank you!

I can tell you what little bit I know, but hopefully Quiltaholic will come along and give you her expertise in it ... she usually coordinates the crayola quilts challenge.

Just like it says, you take 2 crayon colors and make a quilt. Last year, Q set the guidelines as black & white with 1 crayola color, and we got to choose. Other years, she's assigned 2 colors and then allowed one other color to be added ...

Like I said, hopefully she will come along and give you tips with her experience Smile

i did this with my guild 2 years ago.. i'm the program director.. what i had them do .. to keep it easy was.. put the big box of crayons in a brown paper bag.. (removing the black and white ones).. and had them each pick one crayon.. they had to use that color crayon.. (any hue of it).. and use either white or black.. they did a great job.. the quilts were all beautiful..

Hi Patty..

Since there was no way for me to allow each quilter on the forum to draw their own crayons, I put them in a bag and drew out for everyone myself. They were then mailed their crayons and bought their fabric accordingly.

Some of the past crayola challenges included..

3 crayons... The quilt fabrics bought could only have those 3 colors in the fabric. This was hard to do but everyone managed to find perfect fabrics.

2 color quilts - Each person was given 2 crayons and those were the only 2 color fabrics you could use

2 colors + black - Each person was given 2 crayon colors and had to incorporate black fabrics in with them

1 crayon + black and white - Each person was given a crayon color and had to incorporate black and white fabric in with that color.

I did the same as Q with my applique society — I took out all of the neutrals from an off-brand of crayons, then put three different colors into envelopes and they picked their own envelopes. I allowed them to add one neutral to the mix. Any shade of the 3 colors was acceptable. We got some gorgeous projects!
