Welcome to the 2013 Stashbusting Thread.

I am Gonesewin and I will be starting a new thread for each month for everyone to post pictures (If at all possible) or tell about your stashbusting efforts. It does NOT have to be quilting! This can be any kind of Quilting & Needlework!

There are just 2 "rules" to join us: what you make make should be mostly from stash and it should be finished during the month you post it as finished - please don't post things you made otherwise - sew & tell would be a more appropriate thread to share those projects. There are no signups, or swapping or... Just this thread. Everyone is welcome!

As an incentive -or as a reward- cksvett has graciously agreed to give a prize to someone who completes a stashbuster each month if her name is drawn. Let's all be sure to thank her!

Here is the next top I made with pillow panels. In this case the pillow panels were my stash and the background fabric was the new part... Chris

This is the matching pillowcase with the other block I didn't use for the top. Some how I never figured out how the Koala fit in with the rest of the 5 blocks? Here frame & block are the stash... Chris

Here is the backing, binding and other pillowcase. Just the darker binding is new... Chris

Did a few mug rugs yesterday afternoon for our card party today. Friend painted some mugs to go with them, coming out of the kiln this morning.

Also did the monthly BOM block.

Love those mugrugs. It's so nice that you have friend who can make matching mugs. Show us a picture when you get them.

Patricia Anne, looks like you were the first one! I like your block!

Chris, you're doing so good with those panels and I like how you're laying them out. Nice pillow cases too! I like the koala!
Elaine, those mug rugs are pretty. It's nice your friend can do those mugs to match.

Inspiration already so early in the month!

I did my BOM this month all out of stash, but I also completed a UFO that should actually count as 2 times stash The fabrics used in this table runner were given to me about 3 years ago from my MIL stash, and the back is from my stash... I've had this in the works for over a year... why? I don't have a clue... but it's MY year for sewing, and I'm on a roll!

This is the quilt for my cousin. It is all from stash. disappearing 4 patch.

Quilted and bound my January stashbusting Island Chain quilt! Yay!!

Pat love your island chain. I found the book over the weekend at Joann's. The guy checking me out told me he made that quilt in black and gold ... sounded yummy. I certainly have enough scraps to make it. he he he

Pat I just bought the book from B&N it was $16.66, also pre-ordered the new one coming out next month and it was $14.87, no shipping if you have a B&N membership! Plus I had a gift card I had not used all of! I can't wait to get my books!!!!!

I am going to pull my noodles and see how many I have and hope there is enough! I think I have enough neutral to fill it in, Thanks for making this quilt and inspiring me.

I did go through my books to make sure I did not have it before I bought it! LOL! Never bought a book a second time, no never! LOL!

looks like the new kim brackett book is called Scrap Basket Beauties... and it comes out march 4th... can't wait.. i love her books!!

Those books are among the very few that have me wanting to make every single one of the quilts in the book! Usually there will be one or two quilts in a book that I fall for, but these Scrap Basket books are amazing!!!!

Got to pre-order the new one!!!

I have a top done! It is all from stash but I will have to purchase a backing...

So many pretty quilts. I haven't tried the D4p yet. Love the Island Chains and Gonesewin your quilt is amazing! I am putting the binding on a Scrappy Trips quilt.....all stash including backing and will post when I am done

Love that heart! Love the pink with the red! Is the center pieced or raw-edge? Really like it a lot and perfect for the upcoming 'love' day!

.. I have contributions ... of stash anyway. Myneighbor is my grandsons math tutor, and refuses anykind of payment - andyou all probablyhae a clue at what THAT can cost .. so when she wanted to make somemugrugs awhile back - I dragged her over here and opened the stash cupboard .. OOOOHH she says .. and she had fun learning to make some mugrugs.... well
she needed some more for a family get together this c oming week in another state - and back in my stash I may get to buy some fabric this year!! woohoo
So here we go .. the first one is she with a potato micro bag she did .. it's purple and teal with butterflies and has the right kind of batting, I got it at Joanns with a coupon

... and here are her mugrugs ... hope you can see them, I drew stars on them so they would all have a kind of patriotic feel, and she stitched them all very caefully. BTW - she also quilted the fabric for that bag ... I enjoy teaching - and I especially enjoy it when someone is having such a good time .. and she just kept smiling.

...well would dyou take my word for? theyare simple but verynice - she did a great job and her family are not only going to be surprised that she made them, they will be pleased.

I finished a baby quilt that I had been working on for the last year. the backing is from my stash. The use of stash and a ufo finished.
Oh and the birds are hand embrodiered.

HandieAnn- Love your baby quilt! I'm envious of your embroidery skills! I would never attempt something so lovely!

Here's my attempt to tame my 2-1/2" shoebox (or at least to have it to the point I can snap the lid back on!)

All stash! Still not using the fabric that I have yardage of! Even the background was a variety of white scraps from previous quilts!

PatriciaAnne - the colors in your BOM are great! Is it lavender or pink? I would've never thought to add the yellow but it's stunning!

chris - I love the animal quilt & case! You're going to make some outdoorsman very happy.

Elaine - how fun! How cool that you have a crafty friend to inspire each other!

SS - very pretty two-fer, haha. I agree, knocking out a UFO should count double, haha

Mountain Laurel - the pink and brown is stunning! It's so cool how it forms the little 4-patch corners, nice job!

GPat - how pretty! I can't wrap my mind around the pattern but I'm a sucker for scrappy on white, it's gorgeous!

Gonesewin - That's an awesome sampler! how in the world did you think of mixing all those blocks? They look great together!

WQfC - I love the mix of fabrics & shapes in your heart quilt!

Handie - your bird quilt is awesome! Nice work on the birds!

Pat - that's TWO beautiful quilts! do you mind if I copy it & pretend I might make it one day, lol? it's gorgeous!

city/sandie - it's very sweet of you to bring along a new quilter. or maybe it's just really smart, now you'll have a quilting buddy right next door, how awesome will that be? but you might never get any work done around the house, lol.

My February finish. This one is going to the hospital for my FIRST grandchild next month. Aand as a bonus I think I will surprise my daughter, she knows something is coming but she has not seen the top at all. Deb

Oh, I just looked through the thread, so many pretty items!! I can't pick a favorite.

...me too .. can't pick favorites ... this is one of my most favorite places to check in ... so many pretties .. and from STASH .. the backing on my 1600 quilt was stash . and it looks like another quilt!

That's the BACK! Oh soooo pretty!!

toryam, the colors are amythest. as in Feb. birthstone. My BOM's are all going to be the color of birthstones for each month.

Deb- That is such a pretty quilt!! Your daughter is going to love it!!! What a happy surprise!!!

Here's a scrappy baby quilt I made to use up some of my 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" bricks that are overflowing their shoebox! I can't remember where I found this pattern. Got it all quilted and ready to give to a couple from church who are having a baby girl in a few weeks.

Photo isn't great but I'm pleased with the FMQ I did. I think that practising more and more with my machine is making it easier each time.

Made a potholder using only Insulbrite inside. I learned I DO need to use more padding.

Back of potholder. This is the pattern of the fabric and bought it a few years ago for $1 a yard. I'm going to use it up on potholders.

Love the projects. Pat really love your brick baby quilt ....

From my stash this month... don't know how to do multiple pics in one post so I'll post a few.

6 inch block from trimming from a 12 inch block made from stash...so it's like double stash!

12 inch block oh, these are to be mailed to someone else which is why they are not "finished" so for me they are finished.

just got called in....will post mug rugs finished and 2 quilts finished later today.
