these are some I made using copper wire from some rewireing we did in our old house. I started with the idea they were leaves but I think they look more swan-like when finished, lol.
these are spool shaped glass beads wrapped with fiber and wire. I knew when I found these beads I wanted to wrap them with something and I really love how they turned out, so fuzzy and colorful! I hope yall like them too, lol. This message has been edited. Last edited by: toryam,
these are the dorset buttons made by JS from my guild. She's trying to get registered here and having a horrible time with it! Hopefully she'll be able to get on and tell us about making them.
for number 2- I was all over the internet looking at other charms and Char kept posting some real cute stuff. I saw some cute doll clothes somewhere but I could not find it ever again. So I experimented with a little dress I had sewed from scraps after drawing a picture and added beads or buttons. I just need to incorporate the metal part When the bulb went off in my head to work in a hanger but the metal I had was thin and not holding up. I tried bending a paper clip and that worked out better.

Next I was tearing the tabs off the soda cans to take to Branson and noticed how flexible the can was and again A light bulb went off. I was able to cut the can with scissors after making a hole with a Ginsu. Then I washed the strips carefully an let them dry. In the mean time I tried a couple of die cut punches. The butterflies were the only ones big enough for beads and metal. There is no fiber added here I was going to use ribbon but it was just to much. This message has been edited. You never know where insiration will find you. One day we were eating pistacho's and as a joke I put a face one and the grands thought it was hilarious and they had fun drawing on them. DH went to the grocery store for a few essentials and came bag with a bag of pistachios. I was still crafting and thought I should have used for these for faces on the little dresses. I pick up a few beads and wire and thought I need something for fiber. Well... pistachios were plants at one time, so bingo. A new idea was born. They became my favorite and wanted to share the idea with Charlyn. She may be the only one who can relate to the way my mind works. As usual I got carried away and made so many that I thought everyone might ought to have one. I wore one as a pendant the other day but I did not go anywhere so I did not get any feed back.

I have been waiting to see these and it was worth the wait! Such fun, beautiful and imaginative ideas!!!

I loved this swap! after seeing something in the january 2011 issue of handcrafted jewelry, i knew I wanted to try my version of the deryn mentock earrings. I used paper from a vintage music booklet and glued a fussy cut to a loop of 20 gauge wire I had flattened with a hammer. I added a bead and a twist of tulle and silk ribbons. i had bought some inkessentials glossy stuff and used that to give the bead rigidity and a cool resin-like finish.
Irish, I have looked over your charm and wondered how it was made. Thanks for telling us. BTW I loved it, I googled Deryn Mentock and liked what I saw. I want to try her toggle clasp. Headie, I am so glad you got to the mail box. The tiny square was so cute, I had trouble makeing the square small and yet add to it. You mastered that very well. Good job Shawkl.

Mine started with confetti quilting - I took several small strips of fabric and layed them ontop of that stiff interfacing that I can never remember the name of. LOL I layed black tulle over that and quilted it like crazy. I cut out the squares, added the embellishments, and blanket stitched a second square for the back. I was worried about how to add the ring but it turned out to be much easier than I first thought because the wire flower sticks out over the edge. I really like these and think I may actually put them on a braclet. The dresses are my favorite!!This message has been edited. Last edited by: headielamar,

Well, all I can say is...WOWOWOW! These are all so very lovely and creative!!! Fun! I am definately in the next time around!
Got through the art show with Dad...went very well...he made glass lampwork beads and I sold them...great fun working with him.
Now waiting on grandbaby #4 to arrive...Laurel, my daughter, has been in and out of the hospital several times the last few weeks with preterm labor...getting down to the wire now...has 4 weeks to go so now they are saying that the next time she goes into labor they will do her C-section (had one previously and this baby is breech now anyway). Baby is over 8 lbs already so definately time to get this show on the road! Anyhoo, I arrived here last night to be with Annabelle (3)...don't know how long I am staying...just depends. Daughter's labor all stopped and she is working today...crazy times!
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know I LOVE your art and look forward to playing next time!
My uncle used to do craft fairs with his woodworking and he said he always sold more when he was working on an item. folks would stop & chat about what he was working on & most folks that stopped to watch him work would end up buying.
Irish - I snapped those pics at a little flea market here in town, they have a facebook page but it doesn't show the pallet stuff: atrium mini mall, or google 'the atrium meridian ms'. It's an old mini storage building and they rent out the storage units to different folks for crafts/art/antiques/whatever. I don't know if the individual vendors are making any money but the dude who owns the facility is making a killing and there's a 6 month waiting list to get a unit. This message has been edited. I have so much enjoyed following this swap... I even considered getting in but since I am away from all my playthings it just wasn't feasible. Sure hope to join next time.
Oh and Patch how did you do your second set...or the ones that look like they are covered in some kind of clear plastic....

Hello Lovethosequilts! Those are glass tiles and they magnify a bit! I got them at a bead shop in town a few miles away. They were on the cheap side compared to what I found on the net. They are 7/8 of an inch.

What did u use to glue on the...holder thingy/jewelry jump ring thingy? I'm going to look in the tile section @ Lowes next time I go, what's a reasonable price for them?
Thanks Patch! I'm going to be looking for those... or something similar! Michaels used to have a sticky backed vinyl like thingy that you could stick pictures or photos to and then glue a magnet for the fridge...but they don't have them in my neck of the woods any longer...

LOL--you even got my ArtCharm book into the picture. Thanks!
This is a square of antique lace from what (I think) was a very fancy slip. I sandwiched it between 2 pieces of glass microscope slide and then soldered the edges. It looked a little unfinished (not much color), so I added a blue glass teardrop bead dangle.
Thanks again to everyone who participated, and the Hostess with the Mostest: Char!
