Sew & Tell is our weekly sharing thread. Tell us what you've finished, what you're working on- we'll cheer you on!

Raining here, to turn to snow later, the weathermen keep changing our local forecast.

I finished 4 more of the no crochet ruffled scarves, and after seeing mine and watching the youtube, my niece is also making them.

So who's sewing?
Holly

Beautiful quilt Kim love the colors! I finished the elephant toy, which I made from scraps of the flannel I used for the burp cloths. Took me a little longer than it should have since I didn't pay any attention when I was cutting it out and then sewed it together. Then looked at the other side and noticed the fabric was upside down! What a duh moment, so had to rip it out, recut and resew. I didn't put a tail on it, since I didn't know what might be safe for a baby to put in it's mouth.

Great V-Day quilt Kim! And that elephant and those burp cloths are adorable Bunnybcb~

Here is my UFO Finish for the week. "Color Me Happy" will be donated to Project Linus. I'm kind of addicted to doing freehand curves with my walking foot... it's so fast, easy and FUN!

A friend in my craft group asked me to put together some t-shirts into a scarf with my serger. She had one to show me and it was very simple. I like this idea much more than a quilt.

Thanks, Bunny. Wish I'd thought about the scarves but I'm not that clever. If we lived in a colder area it would be nice to serge them with flannel on the other side or even frayed edges on the flannel. We've been in shirt sleeves here all week so this is a better choice for us.

Great projects, everyone! I love all of them.

EvelynB, I thought of your elephant quilt when I was in JoAnns the other day. They had some pink/gray flannel with elephants. Might make a great self binding baby blankets to go with your quilt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqwdNqMZ8Ro

Love all the great projects!

After I finished the t-shirt quilt for my daughter's friend (posted last week) my daughter reminded me that I hadn't made her one, yet. She is our last (of 5) so she has saved tons of t-shirts. I picked through them and found ones that had places we have vacationed or places she went in school and made a film strip quilt. I am sending it to her at college - I think she will be very surprised!

patty j - I'm using my walking foot to create gentle wavy curves... freehand meaning that I'm not marking the top. I stitch the 1st line down the middle of the quilt and then loosely echo it on each side.

Mary Lou,
That's such a great way to make a receiving blanket. I've bookmarked it and I'm off to JoAnns to see about some flannel. Hope they have some elephants. I've almost finished another pink elephant quilt for another friend. She'll love it too. I usually crochet around flannel blankets but this would be a fraction of the time to make. TFS

Love the beautiful heart quilt Kim. And Evelyn those elephants are adorable!

I have been cutting medium blue 1.5" strips. Finished those today and have moved onto to white strips. The only problem with scrap quilts is that you have to cut it all out so that you can spread the fabrics evenly over the top. Hoping to finish the white tomorrow and move on to navy. Then to get sewing.

What a cute stuffed elephant! I love it!

Katie, what are you doing with the 1.5" strips?

Evelyn, your elephant quilt is so cute, makes me giggle!

neat idea, using a film strip layout!

"color me happy" is a wonderful name for a linus quilt!
walking foot freehand curves = nice, soft and slow wandering in and out of what would of been a straight line..nice job!

looks like everyone has been busy! and creative!!

The wonky hearts quilt was for a friend..her son left for boot camp in MO. on wednesday..which is the day i finished it. I knew she needed a quilt hug..and of course she loves it..pinks,purples and hearts are her favorite. i am not very good at applique, but it worked out just fine! i am so glad too! that was a lot of hearts!
Love the thread..

LumpyTush, I'm so very sorry about your DH. I hope you have family close to help with you.

Thank you, ladies, for the compliments on the baby quilt. I have three more to make. I've got another pink one almost finished. The other two are boys so I want to come up with a new design.

I'm working on a guild challenge. We were given 4 fabrics and had to make a small quilt by adding a couple of our own. I decided to alter one I made a couple of weeks ago. Those letters were a big pain to blanket stitch around. I'm going to quilt some yarn fluff, some dryer lint, and some hair into the quilt. After spending $20 to join the challenge I wanted to get something made with it.

After posting my photo I realized there was not a recognizable piece of the alphabet fabric. I'd used the black to make the eyeballs but that wouldn't be enough. So I had to determine what words I could spell with the small piece of given fabric. "keep out" wasn't what I wanted but at least it's obviously from that fabric. I also used a gray pen to make one pair of shoes dirtier. May have to do the same for the bright white on the two bunnies. No clean dust bunnies in my house!
