I'm so out-of-it! I don't feel like doing much of anything except play on the computer, lol. I can think of lots of things I NEED to do but I can't think of anything I WANT to do. How do you re-charge your motivation?

I pick a little, fun project that's easy to do & refreshing to think about. When I feel as if I'm in a funk, it's not a good time to start some big quilt, or some big project for someone else. I have to have some "me" time to just "mess around," free my mind, & feel creative again.

I surf blogs & get ideas. All it can take for me sometimes is one look at a picture, and I'm off. I have a notebook full of easy ideas & tutorials for "someday."

Go to the "One Pretty Thing" website and look back a few weeks. You might see something that sparks the flames of creativity...something you can't resist starting.

Thumbing thru my fabrics & trims helps, too. There's bound to be something in there that I bought with an idea in mind, but didn't get around to using. I can pair a trim with a fabric and off I go, making a pouch or something.

Make something for yourself! That helps, too. I sew so much for others, yet hardly anything for myself. I need a "gift" every now & then, too. Cool

Yes cleaning the sewing room helps. Going to the quilt guild-also! I can only do a little at a time and it's discouraging but that works for me.

Starry saves me time by writing my thoughts down on paper!

Favorite blogs and Flicker pictures get me going. Perusal through magazines I'm marked. Finishing some small projects helps. Every once in awhile I read a whole series of totally unrelated books...that seems to clear the deck and push me out the door! And then there's the whole eat a pie trick... Roll Eyes

Chocolate, tea, and a trip to an lqs!

Books, magazines, fabric petting. Putting away that project that needs to be done and is staring you in the face. (Think D*** Jane.)

I have some little kits made up for baby quilts, charity projects, etc. Sometimes I just need to sew strips together in a quilt as you go to make my mind re-focus on what I really want to do.

I agree with a lot of what other people have written. For me, taking a break helps and also going to a LQS for inspiration also helps. I am not one for using patterns but looking at the ones at the quilt shop can often trigger a creative urge. Cleaning the sewing area also helps me to feel like I am resetting and reclaiming MY space. Learning a new skill is also good to help get excited about it, again.

I've been in this funk for quite a while. I wish the quilting bug would bite me again.

Tory, when you find your mojo, I hope you find mine too. I've been in a slump also the last 3 months. DH and I are leaving to go camping this afternoon by ourselves, NO kids, NO grandkids, just my precious dog is going. I'm hoping to spend tomorrow just chilling out in the almost 90 degree weather. I may just go sit in the creek for the afternoon with a bottle of ice water and some sunscreen.
