I'm finishing the quilting on a baby quilt for a baby shower tomorrow...nothing like the last minute. Hey, I have all morning tomorrow to do the binding! LOL

Anyway, it's a Warm Wishes pattern and I'm doing a very simple quilting pattern by sewing straight lines all the way across the quilt diagonally through each solid square(so that it ends up with each solid square having an X through it.)

This results in my quilting lines being a maximum of 7 3/4" apart (some, such as the borders, will be closer). Acording to the package, that's within the outer limits of up to 10" apart.

My question is, does the batting really hold up in actual use when quilted this far apart? Granted, I am in an obvious hurry, but I also don't want the quilt to turn into a lumpy piece of junk after a few washings.

It'll be just fine, no worries! One of the reasons I like that batting so much is because of the 10" allowance -- if I don't want or need to quilt closer, I'm not forced to do so because of a quilting limitation.

So where's the pic? Cool

Who has time to stop quilting and pick up the camera?!?! The shower is at 2pm tomorrow! LOL

Seriously though, I'm almost finished with the quilting and will likely start the binding tonight also. I'm doing the "fold the back over" type of binding, so it will go quickly also. I'll post a picture soon.

Oh, and thanks for the speedy answer Smile

Tyme, if you are concerned about shifting, you could tack or tie the middle of the rail blocks. Just keep the tie ends short if doing that.

Thanks! I think it will be ok without it, but a simple machine tack in the middle may be just what I need to feel better about it. I don't have time to tie it.

In case anyone is wondering...I'm just checking in here to relax between rounds. I have just two more rounds to go to finish SID the borders and it's ready for the binding.
