Since both enabling and promoting one's favorite charity seem to be allowed here I'll mention that The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative is starting a newsletter. In order to encourage people to sign up they are having a drawing to determine the winner of one of the little quilts I made and sent to them. The newsletter is free and the winner of the quilt will be chosen from the names of people who sign up for it. If anyone is interested, they can sign up here.
This is the quilt that will be given away. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bozie,

Oh Bozie, I would love to win that quilt. I don't think I've ever seen that one. You do such beautiful work....never disappointing. Do you have a name for this one?

What a wonderful opportunity! I signed up for the newsletter.
Thanks so much for the kind words and the interest in AAQI.
Nicki, I showed this one in one of the Sew and Tell threads in late August. Its name is "Bright Star", chosen to honor the memory of a human star who brightened the lives of many during her 95 years on earth.
Careful Sandie, any ideas you get from me are probably flawed!

Lovely! I signed up too. I have bought two minis in the past when I have been at her traveling show. If you ever have an opportunity to go see it , you must, it is a moving experience. I would be so pleased if anyone on this board won this little masterpiece of Bozie's. Rondi
Martha...that is an amazing quilt and opportunity for everyone.Hopefully it will also benefit this very worthwhile cause. Thank you

That would have been their Update Bog. According to Ami that will continue. The newsletter will be in addition to it. They also used to have an earlier version of a newsletter in Yahoo. Haven't seen that one in a few years.

Thanks for letting us know about this Martha! I just went over and purchased one of the quilts that was for sale. The narrative that was written for that quilt had a lot of meaning for me... A quilter from Utah made it..

She has made quite a few quilts for AAQI. All of them are dedicated to the same person. "The angel" had a name in the earlier ones. I don't know the details of her story but there is a bit more in her bio on her thousand dollar promise page.

Hmm. I was thinking about trying one more time. The center of the Lone Star in this one isn't quite right.....
Tell you what - why don't you get back to me if you don't win this one?

I had read her 1,000.00 promise and the write up there. I have someone very dear in my past and well.. I just knew I had to buy this one.
I saw the quilts in your 1,000.00 promise profile too Bozie.. You have worked very hard for AAQI! Congratulations on a job well done and well above and beyond! I should have asked if the donation I made in lieu of the cross stitch could have gone towards your total. Didn't know about that then though.

I want that quilt! (in spite of that flawed center )
I really need to send the 2 little quilts that have been sitting on the end of the ironing board for over a year.

I signed in, and hope someone from this board is a lucky winner. I periodically look through the pictures. What name do you use for those small quilts? I was trying to find one that I thought you may have shown. Great work, and prolific too.

Angela, I hope you do because I'd really like to buy or bid on one of yours. Don't think you have shown a picture of one I didn't like. I'm not schmoozing - I really like everything of yours that I have seen pictures of!
Gemsqu, I use my real name when I register my quilts. Rather than post it here on the forum, here's a link to the page with the one up for grabs.

You are to be commended for the commitment you've made to AAQI! Over $10,000 for the quilts you've donated is absolutely phenomenal & a testament to your skill and consistency. Keep up the good work!

Gonna sign up for the newsletter. You know I have always loved your minis, but I have a question. How does someone buy a mini from AAQI directly? Do you pay the amount that the mini's bid is? The one I would like to have is...Roses for Mama. I just can't afford the last bid I saw. PM me if you'd like.
Thanks Gina

Gina, I'll answer you here since others may have the same question. There are three ways to buy a quilt from AAQI. One is to go to the page listing Quilts for Sale and purchase from that page. A second way is to purchase directly in person at the International Quilt Festival in Houston (or occasionally elsewhere). They actually have taken over 2000 quilts to be sold in Houston this year. The third way is to bid on quilts in the Online Auction held the first ten days of each month. Those are usually the regular priority quilts but occasionally (like next month) there is a Celebrity Auction instead.
The quilt you asked about "Roses for Mama" was sold in Houston last November so it is no longer available for purchase. The price you saw listed for it was the selling price - minus the Houston sales tax on the day it was sold. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bozie,
