Love it so far. All the schools are closed we have received about 8 inches of heavy wet snow so far...it is most assuredly a white Christmas in TC and I suspect all over Michigan..Heard Denver was getting it pretty good also.
I'm back on track to finish all my leftover Christmas sewing projects and if the electric stays on...I should finish up. So far just a few blinks...there are outages south of me and north of me...
What are you doing?
I'm trying to wrap some presents but first I have to find where I put the 986348217346 gift bags I bought on clearance last December 26th!!
They must be up in the attic. I've torn apart every other closet & storage space. Now to lock up 3 "helpful" cats & risk limbs going up in the attic....
I heard that old "12 Pains of Christmas" song today...I can relate...
Starry, I'm looking for things too. Stuff I bought mid year as presents for DILS I've also lost the 2 60 degree triangle rulers Sister Sue gave me to make my son's table runner. GRRRR. I'm sure all will turn up on Dec. 26th.
Maybe I put those in my attic, too?
Now I can't find the red & white striped tissue paper I know I bought earlier this month. I saw it somewhere unusual last week...bottom of a stack of ??? Of course, it's nowhere to be found now. And the house isn't even a mess -- I cleaned yesterday! It's just the time of year for things to go astray. We bring stuff into the house that doesn't have a permanent home, so it hides wherever it can find a spot!
Temperature and electricity (and water since we are on a well) is all that's falling around here...supposed to be 28 tonight. Oh and trees are falling due to the wind when the front came in. I told my road commissioners that three trees were down between my house and the courthouse. Two big ones that some loggers evidently cleared out of the road.
Commissioner asked if the electricity was off at my house. Yep, it went off about midnight. A tree went down over the lines south of us.
Just talked with DH - electricity is still off and he's getting the generator set up.
DH bought the last present for SIL! Finally! I do not like waiting until the last minute. I have only two presents to wrap...oh and DHs presents too.
Does this hat make my butt look big?
McMay: It is 50 degrees with rain expected here in Massachusetts. They don't think we will have a white Christmas.
Please stay safe and warm.
It's so strange hearing The Weather Channel talk about this storm by name! "Draco" -- now who's going to remember that or say that instead of "That storm the week before Christmas in 2012 that messed up everyone's shopping and travel plans"
It is a mess here to be sure...so many closing, with this wet, heavy, heavy snow....Its still falling and people are in a panic remembering the awful March storm this year that left people without electric for a week to 10 days..I walked down to the mailbox and was surprised how heavy the snow is. I shook it off my Lilac's because they took such a beating in March. The winds are picking up and suppose to really kick in tomorrow and increase upwards to 50 mph...Its going to be a bigger mess. Temps are around 30 degrees now...So far so good...I still have electric and I'm happy...Draco has arrived, many schools already announcing closures for tomorrow....hope everyone has all their shopping done..
KYIS...I hope your new boot have a warm lining
DH is supposed to fly out of Detroit tomorrow afternoon! Hope all the snow stays up north!
It is suppose to snow here tonight into Saturday with weather forecasts calling between 4-10, depends on what channel you watch. I work tomorrow, need to pick up a few things after work, almost ready, quilty things I am working on will get done, maybe!!
My sister is almost all moved into her new house, so that is what has kept me busy for the last few weeks. She is disabled and could not do anything herself. Those in my family will know their gifts are coming.
It's not snowing at my house but we did get 11 inches of White Christmas about two weeks ago so we're good. Just the thought of quilting during a snowfall is special. Enjoy it!
Just heard from Sue and she said it was chilly in Vegas and she didn't bring her winter coat with her. She was on the shop hop and had a ball. According to her she is keeping up her end of the economy. LOL I hope her plane gets off on time tomorrow and that she will be home around 1:30 pm.It just started snowing here in earnest. She told me she bought so much fabric she might have to leave some of her clothes in Vegas in order to have room for the fabric. LOL
I'm on the southern part of Madison, WI - we've had 16" so far with more to come. The northern part of the city was at around 13" and the western edge at 20"....how weird is that. Called the plowing service to make sure we could get out of the driveway tomorrow IF the clinics are open and I still have a doctor's appt. Unfortunately, DH was incapacitated today and I couldn't hide out in the basement playing with my fabrics since I had to play nursemaid...not a happy nurse either. There's a reason I didn't go to nursing school even after I was accepted many many years ago
It's snowing here and the roads are a mess. My DD reports heavy, heavy snow in Gaylord, where they are staying over in a hotel for a in-law family funeral. Their house in Petoskey has lost power. I made the executive decision this am to cancel tomorrow's family get-to-gether. I have a horrible head cold that I can't shake and threw my back out sneezing this morning! Kids don't need to travel in these conditions or be around my germs! Chri stmas has been delayed for a week.
Here in the Detroit area too May. Been snowing all morning. Daughter is flying in from Texas this evening.
Been sewing all day, finished up my first eversweatshirt make-over. very simple. Thanks to Paus, i have a pocket! will post a picture in sew and tell.
i put a pork roast in the slow cooker, so i could sew some more. My Grandson Ben, is painting next to me...i love fridays!
Day 2 of NO POWER...not happy I can't sew...I just ran into town to get water and check facebook for my electric company updates...its not good here. You know what is really ,really wrong ..is looking across two roads and realizing those darn commercial storage units have ELECTRIC to spare...Now that is just wrong...Stay safe and warm everyone and have a Merry Christmas... I just remembered I have a battery operated little Xmas tree downstairs, when I get home I'm going to go get it...
I have lost 3 big beautiful Douglas Fir tree's to this horrid storm so far and its heartbreaking. The snow is so heavy and wet tree's just keep breaking
I'll be back when the electric, cable and internet is back...HO HO HO...
Hope you get power back soon, May. Stay warm.
Only 2 or 3 inches down here in central Ohio. The horrible winds have gone away and it's just a nippy winter day! Roads all sem to be clear. Picked up photo Christmas cards we just made this morning, wrote a year in review to go with it, got them in the mailbox before our mail carrier came!!!! Now, it's time for some hot chocolate!!!!!
Stay safe and warm all of you!!!
Finally...I have power again....My Flip Ott Light rocks...
