hey all.. i know you guys have the greatest ideas.. so i'm asking you for some ideas for some Christmas make and take projects for our Guild's Christmas in July meeting.. note: we usually do not bring our sewing machines to the business meeting so they need to be something that can be done by hand.. in about an hour.. however you have some quick and easy projects that do require some machine work.. i'd like those too.. we could then demo those and let the ladies do those at home.. thank you in advance.. shey.. my blog.. http://sheysstitchinmagic.blogspot.com/ http://twistedstitchers-quiltingnewbie.blogspot.com/ "it's not the human walk.. it's the human race, if you ain't livin on the edge .. you're takin to much space..." What about making little needle cases from hexagons, cardboard and felt, with ribbon ties. That could all be done in about an hour. "It's bad to supress laughter. It goes back down and spreads to your hips."

Wow - hand - I don't do much hand! But for sewing... Zippered pouches, key fobs (ribbon or stiffened fabric), emery board pouches (ribbon), mug rugs, Kleenex pouches, pot holders, notebook covers, iPad/Pod/Whatever covers/holders, coin purses, Wonder Wallets, coasters, and my ever-favorite "bands on towels" (patchworked accent bands added to pre-made towel hems). Oh, and one project I've gotten done for Christmas is hemming the Moda Home (?) toweling into Christmas kitchen towels. They make toweling in many different designs, and some are really cute retro Christmas designs. I got mine @ Fabric Depot. I'm sure there are more ideas out there for easy projects, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head. Blog surf! Go to One Pretty Thing (dot-com) and search by holiday or just scroll back & back & back until several hours have gone by & you haven't gotten any housework done! My favorite thing to do!!

A picture is worth 1,000 words.... plus its a lot of inspiration. So maybe you ladies would like to show us some pics. Id love to see anything.

How about yo yos: http://pinterest.com/pinwheelpond/yo-yo-projects/ One year I made flat trees out of yoyos fitted around cardboard circles, glued them into Christmas tree shape (triangle). I put buttons and beeds in the gathered centers and a button star or angel on top. I think the yoyo lollipops are really cute also.

This is another fun needle book. I've made it and it is quick and fun and you can add your own things to personalize. http://candykins-crafts.blogsp...ope-needle-book.html "People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Use a styrofoam ball, pieces of fabric and butter knife to push the fabric into the ball. Makes a nice ornamment with a ribbon and pins to make the hanger. Can come back with picture later.

If you have someone that you want to give a bottle of wine to, this is a cute way to take it to them. http://www.needleandspatula.co...sewing-tutorial.html Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

That is a very neat wine tote, much nicer than the one I made for my sister last year. TFS

Hey, look at these cute little things! I don't know if you would make these by hand, but they are useful, and I don't think would take a lot time at all! http://www.clotilde.com/detail...0&criteria=20120610c "It's bad to supress laughter. It goes back down and spreads to your hips."

This site has some lovely smallish gift ideas but in particular I've been saving the instructions for attaching the yo yo to fabric BEFORE it's yo'd. I shared once a few years ago but I'll share again. Seems it's too good to be lost. Mary Ellen
