I stumbled across this while researching something else, of course. It is truly, two quilt tops for one. Are you familiar with it?

The Serendity Quilt:

There are many ladies on here that generously give of their time, effort and fabric for charities.

How about someone that has several children, grandchildren they love to sew quilts for?

Need to stock up with 'just in case' gifts? And the holidays are coming.

This might be a good idea.

Now that looks like a time saver to remember. Thumbs up.

So since she whips it around & sews only 1/4" away from the first seam (the one in the fold), she then cuts down the center & has 1/8" for a seam on each piece? I'd be tempted to draw a line 1/2" away from the fold & then end up with two 1/4" seams instead, and a slightly smaller "leftover" piece. I guess the tiny center pinwheel would be a tad smaller, too? Would have to try it to see if it still makes a good block.

I thought at first she was going to show using those leftovers in the border.

I know what you mean, Starry. I was holding my breath watching her...kept wondering how many retakes they had to do on that part. lollll

Saw a trick on Quiltville and it's been a great one. I've made templates for the most used triangles, choose one and draw a line on the leftover piece before sewing. That way I have the right size and don't have to trim and resize them to fit later.

When I've turned and sewn that extra piece, I've sewn it at 1/2" so each side has the 1/4"...I've made a bunch of little "left over" quilts...LOVE them!!!

That's a great idea, cause I hate those leftovers when you trim those corners.

I get an e-mail every time Jenny at Missouri Star Quilts makes another one of these tutorials!!!

I just love her clever ideas (I'm sure it's also a great way to introduce her store to a worldwide audience too!) Kudos to her for sharing so many great tutorials and to you, paus4quilts, for sharing with all of us!!!!!

Thanks for letting us know about this tutorial. It looks like a really fun quick and easy quilt. I think I would be more comfortable with 1/4" seams also, but that should be an easy fix.

I dug out my Posh (moda) jelly roll and got started! I am nearly done with putting the big blocks together, will post a pic when I am done. I haven't decided what to do with the bonus squares, maybe a border or the back.

Thank you Paus for posting this! Even though I get the Missouri Quilt Co updates I don't always take the time to check out what the tutorials are and completely missed this one.

Good for you, Brandyquilter. Looking forward to seeing your results.

If I could get some motivation going, I'd like to give this one a go myself.
