KeepYouInStitchesQuilting Quilts
I'm making the three grands ABC quilts for Christmas. Colt's is completed except for the label. Cain's is quilted no binding or label. Just started quilting Isabel's.
I quilted Colt's quilt in a large meandering. 6 bobbins.
I quilted Cain's quilt in a large loop-d-loop. 7 bobbins.
For some stoopid reason I'm quilting Isabel's closer...can't remember the design...sort of looks like small teardrops echo stitched 2-4 times one following the other. I think this thing is going to take 150 bobbins (slight exaggeration I will admit). Sigh...

BozieThat seems like a heckuva lot of bobbins per quilt. Are you using baling twine in them?????????

nuquiltrIt is so exciting to be doing something for
DGK's Isn't it?
Even if the body doesn't cooperate! The mind keeps going and going!!!
They are so appreciative, no matter what.

KeepYouInStitchesBozie - these aren't the minis you're used to.
I use the same thread in the bobbin as in the top. I had a bobbin in the case, wound 6 more. I think I have 2 left and have not traversed one row across yet. I take a break after each bobbin. Glad I have a couple of months to finish this one!
However, I really need to put together something for DSs GFs 3 girlies. DS and GF have been together about 3 years now. Last year I made santa hat purses for them and filled them with stocking stuffers and gave them a present each. They know I quilt. I've got two small snuggle tops assembled and need a third...then quilting...with LARGE meandering!!!

quilting wifeyThose peacock feather designs really do take a while to do. I like Bozie's twine question. What is your thread?

wildcatmomAny chance that some straight lines would flatter the next quilt? Might use less thread, and need less quilt wrestling.

KeepYouInStitchesGutermann - their basic cotton thread...don't know the weight and too pooped to pop right now. May be hay rope.

Showed it to DH and he said NICE! Told him I thought it would take about 150 bobbins. He looked at me really weird. Yep...told him I was exaggerating.
(Next time I sit at the machine, I'll pay attention to the thread weight.)

SeeingStarsHi Sherry,
I tend to quilt very densely, even on Project Linus quilts. It's much more time consuming and certainly uses more thread. Oh well, if you're happy with the end result, it's all good.
Hope you'll share a few photos! Those Christmas ABC's sound perfect for grandchildren.
