Welcome to the final thread of the 2012 Stashbusting Thread.

I am Gonesewin and I will be starting a new thread for each month for everyone to post pictures (If at all possible) or tell about your stashbusting efforts. It does NOT have to be quilting! This can be any kind of sewing!

There are just 2 "rules" to join us: what you make make should be mostly from stash and it should be finished during the month you post it as finished. There are no signups, or swapping or... Just this thread. Everyone is welcome!

cksvett has graciously volunteered to send out surprises each month. Your name will be entered each month when you show or tell us about your stashbusted project. On the first of the month when I start a new thread, someone from my family will draw a name and the winner will be posted on that new thread. If your name is drawn please send your mailing information to cksvett so your surprise can be mailed to you.

New This Year Royalboomer has graciously volunteered some of her "extras" as prizes too! So what I am going to do is this: Those who finish bigger projects or do multiples of 5 smaller items from stash will also be put into a separate drawing and one will be awarded a prize from Royalboomer each month!

November's Stashbusting thread:

I am not a regualr member of the stash busters but have been busting my stash. DH said i have to pay my card down before I can have any more fabric LOL. I can get around that but he is right. I have made him a purple top ready to pin to the quilting machine. Am using stash for my 5 sets of a BOM with the Carol Doak site. Have made a bunch of blocks to make tops for QWL tops and hope to have time to quilt them before the end of the challenge. Don't know how much I'll get finished this month but will post if I do, of couse the BOM isn't going to be done till June of 13.

Well, this might not count as stashbusting because no sewing was involved, but I figure I used up almost 6 yards of Christmas stash making these ornaments.

WQFC -- Here's the link for the pattern for the star ornaments. I found that 12" was plenty long for the strips.

have finished 15 pillowcases, all from stash.
Finished a doll quilt working on a second one. Using the Lil Twister pattern, since I learned how easy they are to make.

...royalboomer ... that 1600 will go so fast and easy you will wonder why you delayed ... I like the diagonal edges where the strips join, especially if the plan is random. I guess that means if there is no plan LOL. when you get them all sewn chain style, you have a long rope of loops, cut it apart while you cut the triangles off the seam joins .. 2 jobs at once ...

Well, here's a UFO that I finally finished. This is the 2011 Scraps to Treasures Challenge that never got completed because of family circumstances at the time.

It is suppose to be a picture, the sun shining over the mountain onto the water and beach. It never turned out the way I pictured, so put it away until this week. Decided to get it quilted and let it keep someone warm.

Elaine - your quilt might not have turned out the way you had thought, but it's gorgeous none the less! There is a quilt blog out there called Exuberant Color and it reminds me of one of her quilts. She's had shows in galleries!

Beautiful job!

I have something to show you guys ...it's a 'MAN BIB' I made it for a friends husband, as a joke, she said when they go out he usually ends up with something on his shirt, last time it was from HER dinner!
Model is Anthony, my 10 year old grandson - he wasn't very enthusiastic about modeling a BIB! GRAMMA! but he is a good sport ..

I didn't have a pattern and just started whacking, got the neck too wide, so there is a (nice??) box pleat in the center front of both sides ... he is NOT chubby so I hope he not only gets a kick out of it but also doesn't feel insulted!

Looking good girls! Than you city/ Sandie.

I have some more BOM blocks done but have not taken a pic yet. I will try to get a pic with more than one so you don't have so many posts. I am actually doing 5 sets for Christmas presents next year. Set 5 I didn't like and had only done 2 blocks so I finally decided what browns i wanted to use. Hope to post soon. I am trying to get caught up on them.

Made an apron for my sister-in-law for Christmas. She had sent me probably 12 yards of the flamingo fabric to make cushions for my wicker chairs, and I STILL have a couple of yards left.

I misplaced the memory card from my camera! I can't post any pics!

Anyhow, did my row robin for the retreat from stash and the SSSS stocking for Nickilee's swap, also from stash. Wouldn't have been able to post pics of these even if I did know where I misplaced the memory card.

Pretty blocks and projects all. Especially the cute mug rug!

Does making 12 dozen cookies and a cake from mixes on the pantry shelf count? No?
How about sending 15 boxes of sewing patterns that I have had for about 15-20 years, that I will never use, because I no longer make clothes to Goodwill?
I am also going through tons of fabric for clothes (not suitable for quilting) and will be sending that to Goodwill.
Don't know what motivated me to do this finally, but I am and I'm going to continue till I'm done. After all I only have One more week off work to get things done. Actually I am ready to go back. Eight weeks is too long when you can't really do anything until the last 3 weeks, making the most of those three weeks. Can you tell I'm bored???

GRRRR I lost my post again. My picture was too big.
I don't usually post on this thread, but I thought this might be an idea that anyone can use. Sue and I made these Santa bags to cover a sewing machine case, a sewing machine, Queen size, and King sized quilts. All of it was made from stash. Including most of the quilts. The bags were really easy to make and didn't take as much time as it would have to wrap with paper. Plus the bags can be reused for big presents another time. Smile Posted the post first then posted the picture with the edit key, I'm feeling pretty smart.Smile
