So many choices for these fish! And the best part is, you can work out your ideas on them because they are all ment to be different and unique!! Love the eyelashes!!! Wink

I used an old button and also did eyelashes, with embroidery stitches first. I am going to do all different buttons, not sure about backgrounds, I don`t have enough of the fabric I used for the first one, but have a lot of batiks with colored dots, so thinking I will use that.

Haven't quite decided what you're going to do with your Fishy blocks? How 'bout a baby quilt...or two.

You know, Paus, I thought they would make darling baby quilts...and then I remembered I used buttons for eyes...guess I could always change those out for embroidered eyes...

Sister Sue was just asking about if there were any more fish posted. Can't wait for the next fish to come. Good thing this is a short month, less time to wait. Smile

Got me two fishies waiting to be caught, kinda. It looks as if everyone chose to use a blanket stitch for the fishies so who am I to go against the 'school', that will settle that. hehehe. I'm stuck on what to use for color of thread. I note several went with just one color for all the pieces. Sounds good but I'm one of those kids that always outlined my coloring pages with an appropriately matching but darker color soooooooo......I can't make up my mind whether to go with one color, several colors, do the inner pieces with matching colors and do the outline of the fishies with a matching background color. (Fishy #1 being the problem, mostly.) *sigh*

I know, it's my quilt and I can do whatever I want. lollll

Pictures to follow shortly.

paus, I did different colors on mine, semi matching threads to my fabric. I liked how it came out, but next time will watch how much steam a seam I put on pieces that are covered up a lot. It was tough on my fingers stitching in some places. Just a heads up! lol

Well, I bit the bullet so to say and began my journey to the deep blue sea.

Fishy block #1 may seem like an odd color to such an interesting school but I said I'd try making this quilt for my kids. I thought I'd include a reminder of the fish that were caught on our fishing trip a year ago. One of them was without a doubt an ugly fish....mine isn't. It's just dark.

Fishy #2, well. it just is. Aqua and purple go together, don't they? I thought the paisley would go good with the purple.

Yours most certainly is not ugly - he's beautiful. I would have never thought brown, but why not? It looks great. So glad you decided to join us.

Thanx, Katie. No, my fishy doesn't compare with the creature DDIL caught. It was ugly. And I've been to enough aquariums to be able to say that. Not only was he ugly he was poisonous if you touched his spines. Nasty little critter. I just hope this guy will be a nice reminder.

L.L.: I think this BOM will welcome any and alllll fabrics. It appears those fabrics you're wondering what you bought them for would be very happy here. I've got some dandies waiting. Mix and match is gonna be perfectly happy here, doesn't need to be spot on.

I was cleaning up one of my craft areas yesterday, ...ick,I know, and found a book with a method that I'm going to try to incorporate into these little fishies. We'll see if I can; if so, it'll be interesting. Amazing what you can find when you clean but such a chore. *sigh*

Anddddddd, as Professor Henry Higgins' future DFIL said, "...just a few more hours". Really am excited about this.

Who's on the east coast that's in this BOM? So we on the western side can see it all the sooner. Someone will be staying up to watch for it, won't you????

Every time I try to open the block of the month I get a message that a problem with the webpage has caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab, whatever that means.

I can open them on my Ipad with no problem, but I can't save, or print from my Ipad. I've traced some things from my Ipad screen before, but you have to be extremely careful because when you touch the screen it enlarges everything.

I have February printed out, but other commitments this month, meant no fun stuff of my own. I will get tomorrows pattern, then hopefully get some time to work on them next month!
I love them all, it is so neat how the different fabrics make them all look like different fish.
