I just finished watching the latest episode in my area for Love of Quilting- I loved the quilt that they worked on today. According to the show's website, the quilt is called "Batik Braid Quilt" & the directions can be found in Fons & Porter Scrap Quilts 2011 EQ #5.

The only problem is I can't find any sign online of this particular magazine or book; I've been searching for the last 30 minutes with no luck at all. Frown Can anyone help me out with this & point me in the right direction? Any help you could give me would be most gratefully appreciated! TIA!!

Happy Stitching All!

Susan, I saw that program last week and had the same problem. I have searched that site three times and cannot find it.

My friend gets their magazine and I searched through many copies and couldn't find it in any of them.

I wonder if it's in an upcoming magazine?

I'll be interested to see if anyone else can find it.

I appreciate everyone's help with this. I'm going to go ahead & email Fons & Porter to see if they can point me in the right direction. If I do hear anything back from them, I promise to pass it along.

I watched ito also yesterday, I really liked it. I thought they were talking mostly about using scraps from your stash, assuming the other info would be on their website. Wrong! Maybe it is just too soon, the program descrittion really talks technique, not directions...from their website...

Episode 1809: Batik Braid

Strippy quilts are so much fun to make. Marianne likes them because they offer lots of flexibility on how wide your quilt will be or how long your quilt will be. On today's program you will learn how to cut pieces for braid patchwork using a hexagon ruler, how to piece braid patchwork, and how to utilize sashing for a stripy quilt

I think all you really need is a half hexagon template, or a whole hexagon template, remembering to add a seam allowance in the middle. I've seen these at JoAnn's and Hanco c k Fabrics

google "images" for half hexagon template and you will see what I mean.

I just used 'Braid' from Quilters Cache

http://www.quilterscache.com/B/BraidBlock.html

I made a boarder for my Thimbleberries quilt, using my Thimbleberries scraps. I did not use a hexagon ruler/template, just my regular rulers.

Susan,
Quilt In A Day website is having a Labor Day sale and I found the hexagon ruler just like F&P used on that show for only $4.55. It would be easy to do the braid their way with that ruler. I'm stopping at JoAnn's tonight and will look for that Easy Quilts magazine. I'll let you know if I find it.

The Missouri Quilt Co has a video showing how to make a braid quilt using a half hex ruler. Here's a link in case that helps.
