I bought a tool to press down seams when sewing blocks. It works really well, I like it. Yesterday I was at Lowes and found a roller for pressing down wallpaper seams. The tool I bought at a sewing show cost 10.00 and the tool I got at Lowes that does the same thing cost only 2.00 and does as good a job.
The one on the left is from the quilt show and the one on the right is from Lowes.

The one on the right is the one I have. DH bought it. I thought he said it only cost something like 57 cents. He actually came home with 3 of them, even though I asked for 1, so I have a lifetime supply!

I've used it already. For any other newbies reading this -- make sure you don't pull & skew your fabric as you roll, because it will then fold the fabric wonky like that. I have to watch that I don't stretch with the hand holding the fabric, as the hand holding the tool rolls over it.

I've also used my bone folder in pinch, or my point turner, or my fingernail.

The seam roller tool I last saw in a LQS was a little wider, wooden, and I think they wanted $12 for it. I intend to look, for curiosity's sake, next time I'm in the art supply store & see if they have any kind of roller/brayer to offer there. If so, does it look better for the price?

P.S. Need to find what I did with my little silicon pastry roller & try that, too.
