Ok so I finished it.. its what Bella will wear the first day of school (next Tuesday)...sstill have to do the shirt to coordinate for William... But I'm so excited..she says she likes it. =)
Indycat I'm doing some research on it... would love some help/ideas about going about it. because I really like doing it.. and its alot of fun and gives me the time I still want to be with the kids (or the escape when I need that too LOL). =)
I also like that I can make things for my string bean daughter that fit her nicely or for my neice who's a bit more "full" right now taht look nice, trendy but not on the skanky side of things if that makes sense. its so hard for kids clothes if they aren't right in the middle of the scale/height thing...or if you are a bit more conservative in what you want your kids to wear (which I never thought I would be but realize with what's out there that I am getting more and more conservative in what I will allow to go on my kids bodies for clothing!) so there you have it.. But this I one I really like and can't wait ot make the shirt for William out of the number fabric as well =) I think its a great "twin set"
it just dawned on me too Indy..if I do that and start making some nice money then I can pay someone to come keep my house clean which would make me even happier!! LOL
Oh my gosh, Kelly - I hear you loud and clear!! My 7 yr old DD is average in height and weight (size 6 or 7). Girls clothing is a joke - in ANY department store you'll find sizes 7-14 ......are you kidding me?!? What 14 yr old wants to wear what a 7 yr old does? And what mother would let their 7 yr old wear some of the 14-yr-old styles that are out there - Whoa!!!! They're just little girls!
Okay - I'm done ranting. I don't have the skills to make clothing. You sure do a nice job.
Kelly very cute dress especially for first day of school. I love to see your creations! Really like to see Bella modeling them! Your twins are so cute.

Kelly, this is really cute, just like everything you've made for her. Is the top of the dress a tee shirt, or cotton fabric? I used to make a lot of clothes for my 2 girls when they were small, and a few things when they were teens. Then when my first granddaughter was born I made her crib set and lots of clothes. She's 15 now and has different tastes. I have another granddaughter 8 yrs. that I make some things for. She's real slim and it's hard to get things long enough that doesn't just hang off of her, and now that I've retired I can have a little more time to make her some things. You are a definite inspiration to me.
Still wondering how if you got the ribbon closures on Bella's jacket.
Love the dress and that number fabric is sooo darling. I hear what you and rockin' bobbin are saying about the kids clothes. My DD is 9 and tall for her age. What is in the stores for her a 16 year would wear...Now do I want my 9yo wearing what a 16 yo would wear? NOT~ wished I had more confidence to make clothes for her. Thank goodness her school wears uniforms. I can't wait to see the shirt your going to make to match the dress.
I agree with Rockin' Bobbin, my DGD is 8 but can wear some 6X and some 7's, just depends on the garment. If you do look at the clothes for 7-14, they are way too old looking for 7 yr olds, and not to the liking of 14 yr olds.
Kelly how about taking pictures and putting them up on ETSY (is that it?). I would almost bet that there are lots of moms, daughters & sons out there that would love your clothes. At least they (the moms) would kmow that they wouldn't come apart at the seams the first time they were worn. You have some great ideas.

Oh My.. the subject of clothes is a sore one.. just last night my daughter was commenting on the clothing a neighbor 'girl' was wearing.. and DD asked WHY would a parent let her DD go outside LOOKING like that, don't they know what can happen to kids who like *&%&%&'s ??? Good for you mom, taking control now of what they wear.. there seems to be no rules in the market place!
I think that is part of why I want to do more stuff on my own for the kids because of fit and kid friendly things aren't out there (at least around here and at a price the normal person can afford).
Kelly, Just wonderful dress. I have made a few of those t-shirt/skirt dresses. I made one for my dgd and 3 t-shirts that sort of matched for the boys. It was fun. In order to see her dress, I had to reregistar on the boards. It has been a long time since I registared and we have changed our email! But it was definately worth it to see your sweet creation.
