Someone showed my grandmother how to make a bow tie block (about ten years ago) that you pulled threads and folded. She would like to make this block again, but can't remember the technique, and neither does the lady that taught her. Has anyone know of instructions for this?

Howdy & welcome to the boards, trctrchc! I don't know anything about a no-sew bowtie block but I bet it won't take long for someone to come up with an answer for you. The quilters on this board are phenomenal & generally someone knows the answer to a question. We love pictures & new information. I hope you find this to be your "home away from home".

This one is not quite no sew but it is a bow tie block and there is a "pull the thread" step to make tie.

Wish she had used a lighter fabric.

But in any case, this reminds me of an origami folded rectangle. I might have to try this method on a rectangle to see what it looks like.

Hmmm, that looks similar to some lovely European siggy blocks I got when swapping. but their's had folded edges sewn down a bit too. it looks like a lot of work!
see blk with dark center and folds around it? that is the one i was thinking of.it's more of a cathedral block though.
