Some of us from Oregon and Washington have been talking and we want to get a small retreat together for those of us in this area. It would also be open to those from other areas who want to come out. Here are our thoughts so far -

When - late September to Early October
Length of Retreat - 3 days/2 nights - Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Where - Undecided at this point but Pegsami brought us information on a place in Gleneden, Oregon. It houses 14-20 people, is clean, comfortable and very close to the beach. Pegsami and I have both been there on different occasions and enjoyed it. Check it out at www.beachcombershaven.com/html/sandbox.html
Cost - Gleneden would be about $50 per night per person for lodging. We would have to provide our own food but the cost would include the use of a large room for sewing if we fill the place up.
What would we do? - We are thinking we would leave it loose, people could work on what ever they wanted; but we are also open to a class on Saturday and of course Fat Quarter Bingo.

So.....is anyone else interested?

We are also open to other ideas with regards to where to have the retreat, so lets talk about it!!!

Every year I host a retreat for the member of our guild at the local scout camp. Last year we had too many that wanted to come. We can host 14 max but 12 comfortably. This year we are going to have 2 sessions running back to back from last week in Sept. to the First week in October. I have been doing this now for 3 years and cannot change this event. Soooo unfortunately I will not be able to attend.

That sounds like so much fun! I love ANYthing at the beach.

I don't know anyone here yet because I'm a newbie, but I might be game! Is the rental house right at the beach (in view of it)?

Sewnso - nothing is written in stone at this point. What would be a good time frame for you? Or is it just too much at that time of year?

3minions - this is a great way to meet people from the board. Some of us are going to the Sew Expo in Puyallup - have you thought about going? The beach house is about as close to the beach as you can get. If you go to the website, we are considering units 9-12 with the sandbox. That is where Pegsami has stayed before. My family has rented units 7&8 in the past for a reunion. The beach access is just below units 7&8.

This time of the year is a busy time for me. I was thinking July or August, but I did not realize that it would conflict with the other retreat. I was also thinking 6 days.... that is a long drive for 3 days. I've found that when going to a retreat I need to arrive a day early because otherwise I am too tired. By the time I get set up and organized, visit a bit, figure out who is who more time has gone by. Then on the last day it is trying to finish what you are doing clean up all your belongings and get things organzied for the trip home. There is not a lot of time for sewing. But then again that might just be me. I have found that 6 day retreats are about right. However, again that is IMHO.

Yes the reason for doing it later in the year is because of the main COF retreat. Some of us are going to that retreat.

6 days - that would be a dream - I understand about wanting to make it worth the distance but I don't know how many of us could get away for that long.

Hedilamar and Handie Ann--

Yes, I love to go to the sew expo! I've only been the past two years, though, as I only started sewing about then.

I live in Bothell/Lynnwood area. I would love to meet up for the expo! I usually try to go on a weekday to beat some of the crowds, but even if I do, I could probably drive down again to meet up! (It's about an hour's drive from me if traffic doesn't totally bite! LOL!

Let me know what your plan is and hopefully I can work it out to meet up with you. Smile

Can't seem to figure out how to PM on here....

Deb
