We were so fortunate during the hurricane- we only lost power for two hours. My mom lost hers for about 18 hours. So many people suffered so much devestation, and so many still have no power.

Are you OK and did you do any sewing this week?

Holly, glad you are ok and did not have any damage from the storm. Spent most of this week at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. Quilts and vendors were outstanding.

most importantly - so glad you and your family are ok - my heart breaks for all those who lost so much.
I finally have something to show, Indycatcarol did the quilting for me

Britgal...that quilt looks like one Quiltville (aka Bonnie Hunter) just completed. Can't remember the name right now. But that looks like her colors!

Holly, I glad to hear you are doing ok and your family is safe. Still T's & P's for all who were affected from Sandy. I did 2 more table toppers. The first one I used a 1/4 inch inseam. More of the binding shows. Sue

The second one I used the 3/8 inch inseam as the directions stated. You will see less of the binding. Hope Lucky and 3gandkids view this, because they are going to make some table toppers. Sue

I forgot to show the material before it became a table topper. This is the brown fabric. Sue

it's a big quilt, queen size, 4 patch poise I believe. I made it so long ago! It's going to my sister in New Zealand. I also was so inspired when I saw what Rhondi had done with scraps, I started this quilt, I'm about half way through making the blocks.

Pink, White & Black Strings was finished yesterday. I used the awesome hibiscus fleece I found a few weeks ago as all in one batting & backing. Also pulled it over to the front for binding. The blocks are from a swap - can't remember which board/group.

always a good place to go for inspiration...I especially love that scrappy quilt!
This was to have been for the Leaning House challenge Q ran. I didn't have time to finish with son's wedding etc.
I call it Empty Nest. I thread sketched the house. Found a poem by Stephen Spender called Empty house. Stamped it and used invisible thread to quilt.

And this is Two by Two using Quiltmaker.com's free Warm Wishes crib quilt pattern. Both of these quilts will be donated to Project Linus.

Great work, everyone! I don't have any pictures to show today but here's what I did this morning when I went to town: 1) delivered 6 kids quilt to the child advocacy center, I made 2, the rest were from my guild's jelly roll race; 2) delivered 4 baby quilts that I made from stash to the county health department for them to distribute as needed; 3) dropped off some things at the thrift store that I culled from my closet as I switched clothes for the changing season; 4) bought some snacks to put in a "care package" that my Sunday school class is fixing for a servicewoman in Afghanistan.

MaryLou, I'd say you had a very productive day today. Congratulations on all your donations.

Pvillelou - I was just scanning your post and saw delivered 6 kids!!!!!!! - had to give it a closer look! You're so generous, the world needs more people like you

● ● ● I had a he11 of a time getting on here today. Glad to see the server is working again. I've been trying to make a jacket this week. It's suppose to be a really easy pattern, but I am not a seamstress.

Love the items this week. The table toppers turn out neatly from the border fabrics.

This is the latest batch of pillowcases for QWL. The tan one matches the string quilt I made and the others are the RWB ones I donate... Chris

I haven't posted here for a bit, so here goes..

The first is our PJ party quilted scarf. I used batiks and eyelash trim. I haven't washed it yet.

The pices were leftovers from the CYOC string block swap.

The next scarf is done with threads and yarns, using the Sulky water soluble stabilizer. I have a 5" fringe. I made my shorter because I am shorter and hate to bend over and have it stuck between my legs!

Now, I had to make a bunch of American Girl sleeping bags for our woman's group Noel Gala next week. Some might look a little wrinkled as they were already rolled up and tied. All are quilting free motion.

I really like that table topper with the wide striped/patterned fabrics.

I - ahem - completed a BIG project. Are you ready? My ATC from Toryams PJ party. Finally finished it. Whew...such hard work. LOL

For a low-rated hurricane, Sandy definitely left widespread destruction. DH grew up on the Texas Gulf coast...I lived down there seven years. You get prepared for the worse-case scenario. I feel really bad for those in the high-rise apartments. They can't use a generator because of the fumes. Many cannot use the stairs. With the elevators out they are prisoners in their own homes. Hopefully the powers that be and each individual uses this as a lesson learned. We have a generator and kept plenty of water and easily prepared food on hand...as well as several cans of fuel in the lawn tool shed. With the possibility of widespread destruction...I would keep at least one week's worth of supplies on hand...but actually two weeks' worth would be better.

Keep those repairmen/women on your prayer list. They are putting their lives on the line working with downed electrical lines...and many irate citizens...

I am still making blocks for the QWL quilts and got the borders on the baby batiks quilt. Have to take crawling around on the floor in small doses. Tomorrow i will clean up the floor and get ready to pin it.

I'm just doing the usual. Working on a mini quilt for AAQI.

Oh, I love that pink/white/black string quilt!! It'll be so warm.

Here is another customer quilt I quilted.
I could see making a wall hanging with only 1 big house and the words WELCOME above it.

Quilted with snowflakes.

Here is a quilt top I've been working on the past 2 days. I started on the blocks a month or more ago. This quilt will be donated to our local booster club

Here is a block from a customers Hot Flashes quilt. She told me to quilt it according to the name.
I did "circles" in the outer border because some days you feel like you are going in circles, waves in the sashings because you have your ups and downs, and 12 pointed star because some days you feel like you are being pulled in all directions.

This one was done all in circles.

Thank you, May. I was trying to figure out why my back was hurting all the sudden but realized it was because I quilted 6 quilts in 1 week and standing on a concrete floor in the new house didn't help.

I'm in the midst of working on a quilt top that I have to have finished by Tuesday- I'm going to be using it when I take a class on how to work a long-arm quilting machine! A friend & I are taking the class together, so the quilt top we're both going to be working on has to be big! When this top is finished, it should be approx. 90in. x 108in.! Once we've both taken the 4hr. class, we can rent the long-arm for $10 an hour.

Sue- I LOVE your table topper! Would you please let us know where you found the pattern or the name of it?

This week I finished my quilt as you go project from the COF. Than I finished a quilt top for my DF who is undergoing treatment for lung cancer. and the rest of the week I have been doing some mindless sewing of crumbs and I also finished the binding on my DD's quilt I will show it after I get the beads on it. I love everyone's projects. I am going to try using fleece for the backing and batting. Do you havve trouble with it stretching?.

I would love the table topper pattern also. Was that a Branson COF class?

I quilted a quilt for navy wife tthhis week. I did it in all different feather patterns. I will let her show pictures when I get it to her this week

I finished another table topper- used blue stonehenge fabric. Doing these for Christmas presents. Sue
