CANOE I could borrow?!!!!

FYI-The State of Arkansas has now gotten more rain fronm Gustav than Louisiana!

We are flooded all over, roads are a mess, trees are down, power out in 10,000 homes. I worked Geri-psyche last night and the water was pouring in the windows and the roof! At least all those people slept all night!

At least my house is secure and my stash is safe-LOL!!!

Wow! I had no idea. It's like the coverage of the storm just dropped off. Obviously, Gustav didn't drop off!

Please take care...by the way, no canoe! Sorry!

LOL!!!

Jim Shore should do a quilted Ark. I love his angels and stuff. They can be a little pricey though. I got an angel on sale at the retreat in Houston this past spring and just love her!

No canoe, but we have a john boat, bass boat and a pontoon. Which one do you want me to use to come pick you up? The rain is supposed to hit here today. If we get as much as Arkansas, I'll be able to just come on down your way.

T&P's being sent. Haven't heard from DD for several days. Last I heard Little Rock was getting all the evacuees from downsouth. She is problably working tons of hours.
BTW, we are expecting Hanna, I think that's the name to bring us tremendous rain starting Friday. So I guess we will be feeling your pain by then.

Hope you fare ok wih Hanna-stay dry!! If you talk to Karen-if she needs anything-just let me know and I'll see if I can help. Did she start school yet? She's prob. not getting alot of sleep--.

Speaking of which-I should of already been nitey-nite so I'll get off the MB for now-

Gustauv is in NW Arkansas, too! We have had 3 1/4" of rain since last night. 100% chance of rain today and yes, it's raining. We're suppose to get rain for the next couple of days.

We set on top of a moutain so flooding isn't a problem. lt does mean that if l Sub during the next few days l'll have to take an alternate longer route to get to Springdale b/c of one low water bridge that l will not be able to cross. And, of course, the dirt roads will be a muddy mess and wash out.

But, looking on the good side, it's only 64* and l have the windows open! Big Grin

Pam, I thought about you this morning when I watched the news. So sorry you're inundated. If I had a canoe I would send it your way (DH has talked about getting one; I would love one, we canoed a lot as a kid--on the Buffalo River one time).

We did all the preparation here in Houston and I think we got 8 drops last night. That's it. Oh well, at least we're prepared for Ike and/or Josephine. Hanna is headed for a bouncy trip up the Eastern Seaboard. Y'all stay safe up there!

I'll hop in my kayak and be right over! Thnk I might make it ther in about a year. I had no idea that it was raining that hard in your area. It was nice to see that Gustav decided to be nice to all those living in the New Orleans area - I just can't imagine getting hit again with all that destruction. Looks like Hanna is heading up the NE coast so hoepfully everyone is prepared. Be safe.

NICU, I was at Wal-Mart Tuesday night trying to stock up a little. The parking lot of the Days Inn across the street was full of bucket trucks. I'm sure they were headed South. I hope they get the power back on for everyone soon. Here in SE MO we haven't had much rain YET!! SW and Central MO got some yesterday, its suppose to hit here this afternoon or tonight.

Hanna's heading NE. Y'all stay safe and make sure you keep updated.

Houston has a bad history with tropical storms. We're 50 miles inland; hurricanes blow through and do their thing and leave. Tropical storms get over us, lose their "punch", and stall out. We can get 15-20" of rain in a day. And just to make you very aware, more damage, death, and destruction happens from flooding than from wind. So, please be careful. I want all of my friends to be around for a long time.

We've been having rain all day - up to about 2" so far. We needed it but I can tell you I was not happy when I got up this morning - it was raining AND the sprinkler system was running. It is supposed to turn itself off when it rains!!

Weatherman says it is very unusual for hurricane rains to reach this far north but Gustav decided he needed to cool off I guess. Hoping he moves out tomorrow. Hope all get power back ASAP!!
