Beautiful block this month. The colors and fabrics being used are just eye catching - the final quilts are going to be wonderful.

Hope to start catching up by the end of the month - but I'm so far behind. Have all the instructions printed for the last several months, just have to start sewing again.

I agree with Becky that all the different color combinations are so pretty.

Becky, I may "borrow" your idea with the little blocks. I think I have some 6" star blocks left over from an earlier quilt.

Anael - congratulations. I can't even imagine caring for triplets....some super busy times coming up Smile

I've been using some of my 6" blocks that I made for the Sylvia blocks here and there as part of the extras....auditioned the few remaining ones last night...at least 2 will make it into this one. I love that they are finally being granted a "life" Smile

Finished my Oct. block and I guess I went a little crazy with colors. The fall leaves are so beautiful now (except when they are on our lawn) I just had to use lots of color. The gold background shows darker than it really is.

More nice blocks. I can't believe it is almost the end of 2012!! I just finished quilting my RWB star quilt from last year. I know, the top was sitting on a basket all these past months, but I had so many attempted excuses that after retreat I just finished it. Now I'll have the new one sitting around waiting for time to finish, maybe I'll get it done sooner than the last one????

Sew Happy - I just love how your blocks are turning out....can't wait to see it all put together.

I finished the block - used the "free" HST's from the block itself plus a few of the Sylvia blocks. I think I only have two more of them and they just aren't going to fit in with ths - the background is "off" can't explain it - just doesn't work and play well with the others. Ah well, most of them got used.

I do plan on redoing one section - make the strips look more like the second one on the other end.

I don't have much room left on my design wall with these very large blocks Smile

Alex - your block turned out just gorgeous - I really like what you've done so far. I have a question for you - how do you get your picture to not have any "border" when you post it - do you just cut off all the outside of the original picture and then resize to post or the other way around? I love how it just stands out so nicely in the post without any competition -make sense? I think I recognize the fabric you used for your flower but I can't put my finger on where - in any event, it was the perfect choice for this. You have such a good eye.

Boomer, you said it just as I do it! I take pix, save to computer in Picasa 3 (free download software) and from there crop it in Picasa and save it back to my computer. Then I go to the online resizer I use and grab the pix and resize it and resave it back to computer again. Lots of steps but it works!

I thought maybe I had better retake pix since she was the subject of the discussion and I hadn't presented her in the best way!

thank you for your lovey comments! I must say, though, when I look at everyone else's blocks, I always feel like I don't really have much of an eye because my values don't always work out the best! Oh well, learning, learning! I am not going to change any of my blocks, even though they don't totally go great together!, because I wanted to use stash for this BOM and just learn how to do the piecing. I do love all my florals and will try to make them play together with the borders...I hope!

Hi all,

I don't know if I will get mine finished before the end of the month. After COF, visiting family, and DD#2 and I went to Frankenmuth for eating, shopping, and jump starting Michigan ecomony, I haven't sewed until this week and I have been working on my string blocks that need to be finished so that is my first priority now. Will depend on how much I get done by this weekend.

But all the blocks are really looking good and this is a great block pattern this month.

Here's my October block and another one I did trying to catch up (I didn't start until recently). I only have one more catch up block to do. You'll notice I did my own thing in a few places on the minis - still trying to use up leftover pieces from previous projects.
