I sewed! I hemmed pants for DD, fixed pockets for DH, and made a baby quilt! Yay me!

Nephew Joe and his GF Ali are having a little Joe in January, and my DB and DSIL are giving him a shower. I was thinking a panel, but Joann's has this fabric that's flannel, 3 inches squares already sewn together! Pricey at like 16 per yard, but on sale last week 30% off, and I had the 25% off total coupon, so I got some. When I had it assembled, DH said I shouldn't tell anyone I didn't sew the squares together, LOL.

Anyone know how to get pix from my phone to here?

Glad you're up to sewing again Holly. I made a bunch of yo yos to make a Christmas Tree wall hanging and made the beginnings of the handkerchief that you make a baby bonnet out of and then can use as a bridal hanky.. Not much energy.

Holly, sorry I can't help with getting the pic from the phone to here. Maybe email it to yourself then proceed as usual? Some more tech savvy person will probably be along with a better solution.

I finished another little quilt for AAQI. This one is a bit weary. All was well until I rinsed it with cold water to get rid of the blue marker I used to mark the quilting lines. All of the fabrics had been washed but the darkest red bled like crazy anyway. I ended up using Synthropol and hot water to get the red out. The hot water shrank the batting so it has that wrinkled look and still has traces of color where they shouldn't be. Was going to toss it and try again but then decided it is still kinda pretty so put the binding on it and called it finished. Well, actually I called it "Not Alone Star" since it is a lone star block with some smaller companion stars.

Holly you may have to go your book that came with your phone and see how to do that. I don't know how to do this also. I have a trac-phone and have read the directions and it still does not help, maybe I need an i-phone but that is not going to happen as I am happy with this one.

I'm going to make some tablerunners as gifts this year so got my start.
On T-Day I intend to give my DDIL this one from Xmas fabrics. I like to give out a few things to guests that day and she'll get this one. Its only a top now, but it measures 60" long which will work well for her kitchen table.

Sister Sue I just love that sunflower topper, Bozie your "Not Alone Star" won't be alone if I can win the bid ,Quiltbea I know your DDIL will love the runner just wish I had a table long enough to use it!

I have been working on various projects and finsihed my "12 Days" (which I can't share ) and my SSSS (which I can share ) Who will my Stocking go to???

Fluer, When you signed on to the board, I thought you were a New quilter. Everything you have shown has been outstanding and whoever gets that stocking is going to Love Love it. Great Job.
Bozie, I am always amazed at your minis. they are colorful and meticulous workmanship. This one is no exception.

Been cleaning this week, company here, so haven't done any sewing this week. After they leave Monday, I will have to "hit it & get it".
Holly, I have a Smartphone and I just go to my gallery and chose the picture I want and then chose "menu" and chose "share". A long list appears. I've sent to fb and email but not as an attachment to the board.
Bosie, I love your mini, especially the colors. Fleur, I would love to get that stocking. Sister Sue, your table topper looks great. Quilt bea, I really like the long runners, I have a long dining table and the shorter ones look kind of lost on it.

Love Bozie's quilt and totally sympathize with running dyes. I always prewash and sometimes twice with Color Magnets. I've been known to toss fabrics in the trash that won't stop running.

Made a Thanksgiving table runner for a gift. LOVE this pattern! I got one in red, white, and blue as a precut kit and after seeing how fast it was I've made LOTS of them. I did this one as a quilt as you go so it took less than 45 minutes to finish. Yeah!

Been in the holiday mood and finished another lap quilt using 4 1/2" squares Christmas fabrics. Used flannel for the backing and love the feel. Then I used some of the leftovers to make this quick fused stocking gift.

Bozie, it is very nice. I saw the one that you made for AAQI in their booth at the Houston Quilt Festival on Sunday. I'm hoping to win it next Tuesday!!

Sue, could you send me a PM about this table topper? Is it a pattern you buy? I just love everyone you have done. What is the finished size?

Finally did the quilting and binding on this table topper. Makes me happy to look at this table. My son James wrote me an email today reminding me that he left home 22 years ago today and thanking me for supporting his career choice and helping his family. I hate that he's on the other side of the world. I'd much prefer my chicks all close to the nest but they all made good choices for themselves.

Thank you. I used so many different fabrics in this one, all sort of random, but they felt right together.

So disappointed! I wanted to quickly make a table topper for my DD with this border fabric. But I chose the wrong placement for best effect. Perhaps I have enough fabric to try from another area. I bought this fabric when we were togethr in Albuquerque so I thought it would be a nice memory. We learn the most from our mistakes. LOL

Evelyn, I see nothing wrong with your table topper.
I've got some red border fabric I've not had time to do anything with.

Evelyn, that topper turned out really pretty. I'll bet your daughter will Love it. Close your eyes and clear your mind then open them and look at the beauty you created. Pat

Thank you, ladies. My DD lives in San Antonio in a southwestern style home so it is the perfect colors. Most of the stripes match and it'll be nice on her large circular black table. Closing my eyes does help. So I will quilt it tomorrow. I have also learned that a photo can quickly show me if I've turned a block wrong when piecing.

Look what Sue and I started and finished this afternoon. We crocheted these 2 scarves with that new (to us anyways) Sashay yarn. Thanks to Lisa Texas for showing me this at the retreat. I lost my Green Bay one to my friend. She loved it so much and she isn't crafty so I gave it to her. But now I have to look for more green/gold yarn and I make another one. LOL Pat

Holly, If you have a data package, you can e-mail your photos to yourself. Or as mentioned above, send to Facebook or maybe some other way...

Or...go get your charger. Can you pull the cord from the 110 plug? When I do that, I have a USB cable that I can plug into my computer. Plug the small end into your phone, then the USB plug into your computer. On my Samsung I go to Tools, then USB Mass Storage. Perhaps that can get you started...

I finished my COF Branson Chevron placemats - all 8 of them...AND the PJ party Easy-Mitered Placemat.

Those are great napkins and table runner. Love to see the beautiful projects.

Needed a needle to do some handwork and couldn't find one. I emptied my small pincushion of the pins and started pulling the threads. Found some needles! Then I stupidly squeezed it and found a lot more. Got out my needle nose pliers and so far I've found THIRTY-NINE needles! It's not even three inches wide. Wonder what my big pincushion has inside??

Everyone's projects are just great. I love looking at this post weekly. Downsouth- the topper I did is 14 inches and the other ones were 20 inches. Thanks for the complimet. Sue

patty, I just bought some of that yarn to try this. I found a utube video for knitting these. I am a better crocheter than kniitter but I couldn't find directions for doing the crochet so I am going to try kntting one. Is it just one skein per scarf?

Debbie- there is a you tube video that we used and I don't knit. It showed the way to crochet it and one skein is enough. I will send Patty a PM and she can Pm you on where to find the you tube one that we used. It was easy. Sue

Sherry your placemats turned out so cute. Weren't they fun to make? I have fabric for the runner, maybe tomorrow while DH has cards here i can try making the runner.

All projects are great; I took the classes, but no results so far! However, I did learn to make the frilly scarves too, and they are fun. I could not find the green/gold Packers colors. Family would love those; any idea where to locate? Maybe another brand, or type of yarn.

Everyone has done fantastic projects. I don't name names cause I can't remember them and it's to much scrolling LOL. The mind is the first to go they say.
I have started quilting the batik baby quilt. I am just SID ing it cause I don't want to have to pin it to the frame for such a little quilt. I started with my little machine because the start/stop button got stuck on my big machine but when the old walking foot fell apart I started tinkering and Woo HOO I got it unstuck now I am back in business. I will post a pic when I get it done. It will be a few more days. I have a busy schedule this week.

Gemsq, Not Bear colors??? Thought all Illnois natives love the bears, but anyway I'm on a search for Green/Gold on the net, I'll get back to you when I find it somewhere. Pat
ETA: I'm not real good with searching on the net, but I'll have DH help when our company leaves tomorrow. I couldn't find it on my own.

Had fun at Magnolia retreat. I made a quilt top for quilts of valor and finished a little twister wall hanging. I did another jelly roll race type top, but don't have a picture yet...

Lots of neat things the week again.

Was at the Magnolia retreat too. Made a jelly roll top that will go to the New York area after it is quilted by warm buns. Also put together 12 4 patch blocks using the 6 1/2 crumb blocks I make. Started on a top I am making out of the non rwb blocks. then it was time to come home. BOOOOOOOO... Chris

Last night as I was looking for something on line I came across a "Clearview triangle rulers super 60 rotary cutting tool" it looks like you could use it for the table toppers that was being made at Branson. I found it at Create for Less.com it is 18.74 Part # 91196921 UPC# 733718320206 You all might check it out.

I love everyone's projects. What a creative bunch you ladies all are.

I really love those striped table runners and table toppers. Is there any tutorial available to learn how to make them? I have several border print fabrics that would make nice runners I think.

There's lots of tutorials for the French braid runner. Here's one:

I didn't use a pattern for the kaleidoscope topper. I drew the quadrilateral on template plastic with a 60 degree angle on on end and right angle on the other end, adding 1/4" seam allowances. I like template plastic with a grid. It's easier to mark and align for repetitions. Got a template made for the 45 degree cuts but got busy cleaning my sewing room. Moving furniture and discovering my dust bunnies are Big Foot Bunnies!

I've been making Mermaid Tail Stockings for the girls at shop for Christmas. I rarely have much time to work on them, but they're finally finished!
