My family, not dh, but childern, gks and neices and nephews have complained about our not having a tree for the holidays.
We live on 20 acres of beautiful forested land. We see no need to cut one, when we can look out the window and see hundreds of them.
I do put up decorations and lights. We've also put up artifical trees from huge to just over 12". This year I found a pattern for and appliqued tree wall hanging. I am not much on hand applique, so I adapted it to use steam a seam and machine applique.
Dh likes it and so do I, we'll see when the kids arrive what they think.

Joyce it is beautiful. Is it hanging on the wall? I am sure they will like your surprise.. I envy you, sounds like a beautiful view you have all year long.
The company name on the pattern is Sage Country Quilts, it's copyright date is 1998. I don't know if it's still in production but I imagine a little searching on the web will locate one.

Joyce, I love your tree! It's nice with all the ornaments added and I'm sure the kids will like it. A good solution to a 'real' Christmas tree! sewnso... got a good chuckle from your tree!
Love you tree - reminds me I need to bring up my wall hanging for the wall and Santa for the front door. That's the extent of my "decorating" this year

How clever! I could easily see that as an Advent tree, too, with a child being allowed to hang one ornament a day until the star went on the top the last day.
Love the air freshener "tree" too! But my cats would probably tear that down just like they would a real tree.
