I just found my project for next Christmas at the Missouri Star Quilt Company tutorial. It is a Minki Scarf. I can't believe how easy it is, wish I had some Minki so I could try it. It is like the infinity scarf, no hanging fringe to get in the way. DH is out and I don't know how to copy the site, but maybe someone on the board could post it. Worth the trouble to look for it. I'd try 12" wide (not 13") so you could get 3 out of a yard. Think it would work? Think the missing 1" would ever make a difference in the finished scarf?
Oh, and I think I'd do something about that raw edge at the end...finish it somehow. Tuck one under & stitch before inserting the other?This message has been edited. Last edited by: StarrySky,

Starry, did you notice, she is using about a 1/2" seam on that scarf, there's where you need that other 1". Would it make a difference? Maybe not, how much difference is there between 5 1/2" and 6" when it's folded?
I kinda like my edges finished, also. But as with fleece it isn't going anywhere, won't fray.
I did make just regular scarf with minky but I love this one,will have to see what I have left,I make the pillow cases from it and really like them too.This message has been edited. Last edited by: jacky,

i made minky scarfs for all my coworkers this xmas. joanns has a minky-like rosebud fabric. the cream color shows the rosebuds best. i needed to pin alot. mine were not infinity scarfs so i bought 2 yards and cut strips lengthwise. ended up being about 70 x 6". after turning right side out, i topstitched the opening and you really cant see the stitching. they were definitely a big hit. plus used a half off coupon..2 yds for $15 yielded 4 plus 1 more skinny one.
Patty J: to copy a site addres, all you have to do is go up to the address line, click on it and it will highlight. Then right click and hit the 'copy' command on the drop down window. Then you just go to wherever you want to paste it, right click again and hit the 'paste' command.
I was checking through my emails shortly after viewing this video and looky what was in there. How 'bout a little luxury in your Infinity Scarf? How 'bout a little faux fur?
I have a piece of Minky somewhere, might try one. I think I would join the ends together a little neater. Also, why do you need to twist it three time before you sew the ends together?
JJ, I don't know why you twist it, but it was really stressed to do it don't you think?? I think I'd fold under the short ends and stitch them down before I sew the side seam. I don't like just raw edges, even if they say that in the pattern. Bet you could do this with fleece too, do you think???
In my searching for a fleece scarf pattern just now I came across another video making a tube scarf. It was with another speciality fabric whose name I've already forgotten, grrrr.
She did sew the short ends together just as any seam would be sewn. Her secret, leaving about a 3" opening when she started sewing the tube. Then she turned the tube right side out through that opening, and hand stitched the opening closed.
She also twisted the tube before sewing it together but for 4 complete revolutions (8 turn overs).
The reason, I think, they put the twists in is to give it some texture. If all you're sewing is a straight tube your scarf will look flat. With the twists, it kinda stands out.
Love love these ! Made them a couple years ago for Christmas. If you just want a regular scarf you don't have to twist. I think these are supposed to be more like infinity scarves. In knitting , a similar style was the mobius (sp) scarf.
