royalboomerDF made my sewing center - he included a big piece on the front that was hinged and a swivel extra leg to pull out for under it when I need that extra space in the front to keep things off the floor. I don't use it often but when I do, I sure do love it then.

KeepYouInStitchesTips like this can easily be adapted for your individual needs.
DH cut a hole in the computer table that I use, then built a shelf under the hole. My machine drops in and everything is at table top level. This drastically relieves shoulder pain from hunched shoulders!
However, when I have a large project to quilt, I move to the dining table.
